Head Roaster

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Trading Post team as a Head Roaster.

With a group of coffee houses and an expanding wholesale arm and eCommerce sales, we are looking to recruit an experienced Head Roaster to lead our roasting team with an emphasis on coffee quality. You will be responsible for managing roasting profiles for our current blends and developing new single origins. We do not operate out of a singular roastery, instead roasting in a number of our coffee houses with Probat and Giesen roasters.

**What You Can Expect Your Responsibilities to Be...**
- Assisting in the selection and purchasing of green coffee
- Managing and developing the roasting team covering manual roasting, recipes and maintenance tasks as well as personal professional development
- Green bean stock management
- Maintenance and upkeep of the roasters and roasteries
- Roasting coffee across our coffee houses on Probat UG15 and Giesen roasters
- Updating and creating new profiles, cupping, and managing quality control
- New blend and single origin development for both espresso and filter on our Roest sample roaster
- Managing our online store and wholesale orders
- Working with the Head of Wholesale on partner support
- Assisting with the packing of roasted coffee and deliveries
- Keeping certifications up to date
- Receiving green coffee deliveries
- Active participation within the coffee community
- Manage coffee training session for our wholesale partners
- Heading up the coffee education within the company, offering support to coffee house General Managers and Head Baristas
- Actively persue further knowledge through industry publications, events and training

**The Skills We are Looking For...**
- Speciality Coffee Association (SCA) Professional Certification in Roasting or equivalent experience in production roasting, roast profiling, and sample roasting
- Familiarity with internal workings of coffee equipment, including espresso machines (preferably La Marzocco), grinders (Mythos, Mazzer) and roasters (Probat, Giesen, Roest)
- SCA Professional Certification in Sensory, Q-Grader Certification or equivalent experience in sensorial analysis
- SCA Intermediate Certification in Green Coffee or equivalent experience in green grading
- Experience in implementing ways of working and production processes
- Experience with Cropster roasting, stock management and product planning
