**Salary: Grade H: £35, 745 - £37,336 a year**
**Location: Stores Road, Depot. Derby**

**Hours: 37 hours a week**
**Closing Date: 6/9/2024**
**Contract Type: Permanen**t

An opportunity to further your career with Derby City Council in their Stores Road Workshops.

The Workshop Controller role would ideally suit an experienced HGV technician looking to take the first steps into Workshop Management or an existing Workshop Controller who is looking for a more interesting and varied workload and the security and potential for personal development that comes when working for a Local Authority.

The Workshop operates from 6am - 8pm Monday to Friday with the core hours for this role being 6am - 2pm with some flexibility

**The Opportunity**
In the role of Workshop Controller, here’s an example of what you’ll be doing to make an impact:
Dealing with all work, be it planned, unplanned, defects, breakdowns that comes into Stores Road Workshops and allocating this in the most effective way to the team of HGV Technicians
Having a pivitol role in protecting the authorities O licence by ensuring standards of inspection and MOT preparation are where they need to be at all times
The post holder is also responsible for creating and maintaining a safe working environment within the workshop
Liaising with external and internal customers as well as suppliers and manufacturers making key decisions to keep all updated as to progress through the workshop and to ensure the right parts are available at the right time

**About You**
To be successful in this role, you’ll ideally have
The qualifications and experience of a HGV Mechanic

Ideally with level 3 qualification in HGV Repairs or be able to evidence time served experience maintaining HGV’s

Administrative and IT skills (Exposure to Fleet Management Systems/Diagnostic Software and Excel

Great interpersonal and organisational skills. Forward thinking with a positive approach to change and driving improvement

Cat C HGV Licence and DCPC

Experience in specialist vehicles (RCV’s/Sweepers etc.) would be an advantage
