This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Dietitian to lead and develop the community dietetic service to the Adult Learning Disability Team. Working as a lone practitioner within this clinical area we are looking to expand the team in the near future, so line management experience is also desirable.

You will work closely with the Adult Learning Disability Teams and also as part of the wider Community Dietetic Team, providing therapeutic care in a range of venues across the Somerset including clinics, nursing homes, residential homes, clients' own homes, day service venues and respite/short term placements.

You will be working in progressive, friendly and supportive teams (Community Dietetic and also the Adult Learning Disability Teams).

You will be working alongside the multidisciplinary Adult Learning Disability teams across Somerset and will manage a clinical caseload within the specialist area of Learning Disabilities.

You will undertake comprehensive specialist nutritional assessments and treatment of clients with a learning disability in a variety of settings.

You will regularly attend the Adult Learning Disability MDT meetings to discuss patients on your caseload.

You will also be a key member of the Dietetic team, providing expertise, support and supervision to other members of the team.

- To provide highly specialist clinical assessment and ongoing Dietetic management of adults with learning disabilities. Conditions include complex permanent disabilities, multiple pathologies, life-limiting conditions and challenging behaviours.
- To act as a source of clinical expertise/advice and guidance for clients’ families, carers and the multi-disciplinary team.
- To raise nutritional awareness and promote the benefits of Nutrition and Dietetic services with respect to people with a learning disability both within and outside of the organisation.
- To take responsibility and a leadership role in supporting the service delivery and clinical practice.
