Applications are invited for the post of Clinical Fellow in Pain Services.
The Pain Medicine Department at Royal Cornwall Hospital wishes to appoint a highly motivated doctor with a special interest in the management of Chronic Pain.
Royal Cornwall Hospital has a well-respected pain unit that delivers pain services to patients throughout Cornwall. There are 5 consultants with an interest in chronic pain management who form part of a comprehensive multidisciplinary team that comprises of specialist nurses, specialist pain physiotherapists, Occupational therapist and psychologists.
We provide a comprehensive multidisciplinary approach to pain management that includes pain management programmes, nurse-led clinics offering techniques such as Quetenza and PNS. We also implant and manage intrathecal devices and spinal cord stimulators. The team is primarily based in a suite of rooms at Royal Cornwall hospital Treliske but clinics are also held in West Cornwall Hospital and Penrice Hospital.
We have an active role in University of Exeter Medical School providing pain education and regularly hosting medical students. We also have a GP trainee on placement every 6 months.
This Fellowship is aimed at senior trainees who are in possession of the FRCA (or equivalent) or CCT holders seeking to develop their interest in chronic pain management. The Fellow will have the opportunity to expand on their interventional caseload as well as to develop their pain management skills within a biopsychosocial model
