**Job Description for Domestic Assistant**

**Organisation**:Society of the Sacred Heart

**Area**:Duchesne House Care Home

**Reports to**:Finance and Administration Co-ordinator

**Direct responsibility for**:None

**Role Purpose**:

- To provide cleaning that ensures a high standard of cleanliness and hygiene.
- To contribute to the provision of a safe, clean and comfortable environment for residents, visitors and staff.

**Principal Duties**:

- **Cleaning**:

- To clean the home as directed by the Finance and Administration Officer and as specified in a works schedule.

This includes:

- regular cleaning of residents’ rooms
- the community room and other communal areas, hallway, entrance area and corridors, damp dusting, polishing, vacuuming etc. as necessary
- regular cleaning of bathrooms and toilets including scrubbing and de-scaling baths, tiles and sinks, de-scaling showerheads, wiping door handles etc.
- cleaning of windows, doors and other areas as required; removing clinical waste, dustbins and recycling.
- cleaning of spillages as required.
- To maintain cleaning equipment, keeping it clean and informing the F & A co-ordinator when equipment needs replacing.

**2.** **Maintain stock**
- To report within good time to F & A Co-ordinator when stock levels are low.
- To replace hand towels and toilet rolls when necessary and ensure constant supply.
- To use stock and resources effectively and efficiently.

**3. Health and Safety**
- To ensure that cleaning materials, chemicals and substances are properly and safely used and stored at all times.
- To ensure that all duties are carried out in accordance with health and safety regulations in accordance with C.O.S.S.H.
- To report immediately any accident, incident or ill treatment, verbal, physical or mental to the Care Home Manager.
- To report any complaint and concerns made by residents, or on their behalf by relatives or friends, to the senior person on duty or the F & A Co-ordinator.
- To follow good infection control procedures as required.
- To use personal protective clothing appropriately.

**4. Good team work and development**
- To establish and maintain good working relationships with staff and residents.
- To attend supervision and team meeting as required.
- To attend staff training and discuss your development with the F&A Co-ordinator.
- To cover the duties of your colleagues within your area.
- To communicate key communications in both written and verbal form.
- To respect confidentiality with sisters and staff.
- To undertake other duties as may be reasonably expected within the job role.

**5. Knowledge / Experience**
- Ability to undertake a range of tasks associated with domestic duties.
- Ability to prioritise workload
- Ability to follow instructions regarding COSSH/infection control matters.
- Experience of dealing with different client groups.
- Knowledge and experience of diversity and equal opportunities.

Successful applicant will have CRB clearance

**Job Type**: Part-time
Part-time hours: 16.25 per week

**Salary**: £10.83-£11.15 per hour

All employees are required to wear a mask and carry out lateral flow tests twice a week.
