**Salary**:£24,959.86

**Sea Allowance**: Sea allowance of £2.00 per contractual hours for the duration that you are at sea for periods in excess of one month. c.£346 additional payment per month.

NAAFI are seeking a number of individuals who is passionate about catering and customer service to come and work with the naval catering team onboard Royal Navy Ships. This is a great opportunity to experience this unique Naval environment and to see some of the world whilst at work.

You will be passionate about cleanliness and be responsible for supporting the catering services on Royal Navy Ships with their communal duties and daily kitchen cleaning tasks whilst in port and at sea. You will be continuously delivering and maintaining excellent standards throughout all aspects of our business.

The successful applicant must have the ability to work under their own initiative, to live in close quarters on-board ship and represent NAAFI appropriately when socialising with the ship’s crew on deployments for up to 10 months at a time. When not at sea you will either work on a ship shoreside or along-side the British Military as a Kitchen Porter, Cleaner or Customer Service Assistant in one of our other locations worldwide (accommodation provided).

**Responsibilities of the role of Kitchen Porter with NAAFI**:

- Responsible for the proactive maintenance of cleanliness, hygiene and health and safety of the galley and ensuring the requirements of all cleaning rotas and schedules are completed in line with the cleaning information cards;
- Carry out duties within the galley such as washing and drying dishes and utensils to a hygienic standard throughout shift including use of an industrial dishwasher where applicable;
- Responsible for deep cleaning the Galley deck at regular intervals;
- Responsible for maintaining the highest levels of cleanliness and hygiene, including personal hygiene, appearance and conduct;
- Responsible for following all health and safety regulations, including risk assessments, safe systems of work and COSHH assessments and safety data sheets;
- Responsible for ensuring all standards of Health & Safety, and Food Safety legislation are achieved during the course of carrying out cleaning duties.;
- Responsible for disposal of waste materials from catering areas to designated holding or collection points including operating garbage disposal units in catering areas where applicable;
- Responsible for transporting food supplies, equipment, and other catering related consumable items from one onboard department to another;
- Prepare and peel raw vegetables under the direct supervision of onboard catering staff;
- Carry out first aid and firefighting in an emergency scenario to a level that has been trained during Sea Survival Training (Support Level 2 Only);
- Provide assistance to the onboard Medical HQ organisation when there is an operational or training requirement (Support Level 2 Only);
- To undertake any reasonable request within the scope and grade of the role and to carry out other duties as reasonably requested by NAAFI for the needs of the business to enable delivery of service, including taking part in activities in the wider operational part of the business as and when required.

**Requirements for the role of Kitchen Porter with NAAFI**:

- Proven experience in cleaning and knowledge of cleaning materials.
- The ability to communicate effectively with people
- Ability to work on under your own initiative and as part of a team
- Must pass an ENG 1 Medical, a Sea Survival course and the relevant security clearance
- Knowledge of Material Safety Data Sheet and COSHH Assessments
- Knowledge of Safe systems of work and risk assessments
- Basic Food Hygiene qualification (desirable)
- MCA Accredited First Aid Certificate (desirable)
- Full Clean Driving Licence (desirable)
- In addition, you will be required to sign up to the Naval Reserves and working time directive opt out as part of the contract
