Subcontract Buyer

Fawkes & Reece South are working with a main contractor that works on water frameworks, highways and other infrastructure projects on behalf of local authorities and private clients. They are seeking a Subcontract Buyer to work on a remote basis to assistthe commercial team to procure various materials & plant for a range of projects.

Your role will be to build relationships with subcontractors and supply chain whilst enhancing the businesses professional credibility to deliver on projects. You will work closely with a range of teams collaboratively to ensure that any projects are sufficientlyresourced.

You will be involved in (but not limited to):

- Effective liaison and communication between the client, external consultants and relevant stakeholders
- Assisting the estimating function in the selection of subcontractors
- Developing and maintaining a robust and effective supply chain
- Working with pre-construction, operational and commercial staff to devise a procurement strategy
- Attending tender review meetings as and when possible
- Attending pre-let meetings for strategic packages where possible
- Monitoring and reporting on subcontractor performance in line with group requirements

**Requirements including skills and qualifications**:
Experience working as a Subcontract Buyer for a main contractor

Previous experience working on infrastructure projects would be advantageous

Good attention to detail required

Some understanding of NEC contracts

Effective communication skills
