- 8.30am - 5pm Monday - Thursday, 8.30am - 4pm Friday
**Pay:
- **£22-25k per annum depending on experience

The Technical Commercial Assistant is responsible for partaking in the technical and Commercial activities of the Groups manufacturing businesses such as running chemical modelling software, raising quotations, placing internal stock orders, acknowledging customer purchases and following up with production to ensure customer requirements are being met whilst adhering to the groups underlying MRP/ERP/SALES IT infrastructure. The role would suit someone with a chemistry background interested in a commercial non-lab based career within the chemical industry or somebody from a Supply Chain background.
Magma is keen to develop its personnel internally, wider exposure to other business activities will be available for those who wish to develop as the company grows.
Job Role
- Using specialised chemical modelling software to input technical information to generate technical proposals for customers in the refining industry.
- Using chemistry background to understand customer requirements.
- Receive and process customer enquiries/orders and queries
- Calculation of sales costs and compiling quotations to ensure profitability
- Reviewing previous orders to ensure profitability on future orders of the same nature
- Maintain and develop information systems to provide Operations Management with good quality information to ensure that customer requirements are clearly defined and agreed upon regarding product cost, product quality and delivery times.
- Working with the Commercial Manager in resolving contractual and commercial problems.
- Be willing to learn to recognise business risks and opportunities
- Preserve or highlight improvements of the company’s procedures, standards or policies while sticking to business edicts and regulatory guidelines.
- Working with sales and marketing managers in the co-ordination of marketing activities and other company activities.
- To work in collaboration with Group Management in reviewing, scrutinising, and developing efficient and effective operational process flow.
- Understanding and Highlighting the financial aspects and impacts of a contract/Sales order
- Ensuring that all stakeholders, such as administration, operations, and finance understand and adhere to contractual obligations; reflecting them accurately
- Successfully resolving customer queries quickly and efficiently.
- Working with the commercial manager to expand and develop skill base and knowledge beyond administration
Preferred Skills & Experience
- Must have strong Mathematical and analytical skills
- Can demonstrate superior time management and organisational skills
- Must be computer literate and be able to learn and use the company in house system
- Must have good presentation and communication skills
- Must exhibit professionalism and cordiality with customers, suppliers and staff
- Must have the capacity to adequately handle work stress and be able to meet project deadlines
- Must have the drive to learn the technical knowledge of products, of distribution channels, and to improve knowledge base above and beyond administration
