As our Environmental Sustainability Specialist, you will support our wider business to develop and implement strategies and programmes which will help us to realise these stated ambitions. As part of an exciting and dynamic team, you will play an important role in shaping and understanding the future trends and issues that will mean most to our business and the communities we serve. You will have real autonomy to help shape the approach to sustainability of Severn Trent as a FTSE100 company, in a culture that is supportive and puts the environment and people at the heart of everything we do. You will also be given the space to evolve your brief to meet the needs of the people you partner and to reflect the fast-moving sustainability landscape you will work in.
**EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW**
In this role you will help to identify opportunities for the strategic development of our environmental impact within the Severn Trent region. You will engage and co-develop the opportunities with specific business areas and support them to understand, research the opportunities and put in place the relevant strategy and programme of workin key areas such as nature and the circular economy.
As our Environmental Sustainability Specialist we will be looking for you to act as an internal advocate to drive Severn Trent’s social and environmental goals. You will help consolidate and communicate our sustainability performance to both internal and external stakeholders to track our progress and generate new insights.
You will be directly responsible, with the wider central team for shaping our response to a dynamic non-financial reporting landscape, navigating new guidance and regulation on sustainability disclosures and developing Group strategy. This includes our response to the Task Force for Nature Related Disclosure (TNFD) along with coordinating our Task Force for Financial-Related Disclosure (TCFD)
You will, provide insight into the fast-moving sustainability external landscape, including other best practice trends and expectations of different stakeholder groups to continue to help shape our sustainability agenda for now and the future, and lead individual projects
**WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO THE ROLE**

We will be looking for you to have a good understanding of environmental sustainability challenges within the utility industry and ideally the water sector. Ideally you will have a degree and/or postgraduate qualification in the fields of the environment or sustainability or you’re able to demonstrate a high level of experience.
