We are looking for an experienced Environmental Health Officer to work in the Housing Standards Team to promote good quality housing with high standards of housing management in the private rented sector. With the implementation of new legislation, we are keen to engage with, and build strong working relationships with private landlords, letting and managing agents, and tenants to ensure standards are maintained and improved.

The post holder will be expected to deliver a high standard of regulation within the full remit of the housing standards team and act as a lead officer responsible for ensuring the Council’s statutory duties are fulfilled, including enforcement of the HHSRS and Landlord Licensing. They will be expected to manage a busy caseload and take decisions on prioritisation of work and determination of risk/harm. Making decisions on appropriate regulatory action is a key part of the role, including service of legal notices, issuing civil penalties, taking statements, producing reports and maintaining up to date and accurate case file/files for legal proceedings as and when required.
