**We have an opportunity for a Healthcare Assistant to join the team of staff in the Outpatient Eye Clinics. This role is to focus on care of and diagnostics for patients undergoing ophthalmic procedures.**

**This is a Part time role for 17.5 hours a week. Part time hours are also available. The post-holder will be required to cover a flexible shift pattern, Monday
- Saturday between the hours 0800-2000.**

**Applicants should meet the following criteria**:

- Motivated to learn and become competent in clinical ophthalmic healthcare skills within the outpatient clinic setting.
- Have a sympathetic and courteous manner.
- Maths and English GCSE at grades A to C or equivalent functional skills level 2 evidence.
- Previous experience in a Healthcare Assistant role is beneficial.
- To have or to be willing to work towards Healthcare Award Level III and Care Certificate
- To be able to work as an integral part of the nursing and multi-disciplinary team, providing a high standard of ophthalmic patient centered care under the supervision of a Registered Practitioner.

**Duties of this role include**:

- To be part of a team delivering safe quality care for patients during their ophthalmic care.
- To support, and actively assist in the ophthalmic care within the department.
- To accurately measure and record visual acuities using an ophthalmic framework for practice.
- To perform OCT measurements for patients on the AMRD pathway.
- To participate in the safe storage of ophthalmic equipment.
- Ensure that patient safety checks are carried out in accordance with CHG policy and Hospital procedures.
- To contribute to quality improvements.
- Deliver a high standard of care in accordance with CHG policies and procedures.
- Achieve agreed objectives and demonstrating CHG behaviours at all time.
