Engineering Standards Manager

- Salary: Negotiable upon experience around £60,000
- Bonus: 10% (7.5% Individual, 2.5% Company
- Locatio: Derby (Hybrid Working)
- 25 days annual leave, plus additional days for long service

**Responsibilities**:
- Work with the Fleet Services, Heavy Maintenance, Procurement, and projects & innovation teams to understand and deliver business priorities and customer requirements
- Enable and ensure on-time delivery of technical documentation to enable effective procurement and maintenance planning pipelines
- Line management responsibility for staff within the Engineering Standards team - with a focus on high performance delivery and continual improvement
- Set and monitor the annual workloads of the Engineering Standards Delivery Partners, and appointed suppliers
- Author technical documentation as required
- Ensure that all suppliers/ consultants working for the Engineering Standards team have the appropriate technical competencies to undertake their work
- Assess engineering and safety and risks that may result from new or modified maintenance documentation
- Ensure that engineering publications within the company publication systems are consistent across those systems and effectively maintained
- Work collaboratively with the IT department with regard to the development of document and publication systems - including the document portal
- Lead the development of the document portal to enable full customer requirement capability
- Support the provision of maintenance documentation
- Develop and implement a strategy to enable continual improvement of technical documentation
- Coordinate the production of vehicle data sets, and drawing approval, and facilitate access to drawing/ catalogue numbers
- Lead and direct the Engineering Configuration and Standards team and appointed suppliers, enabling on-time delivery of configuration management, and rolling stock technical documentation, for maintenance, overhaul and modification projects
**Knowledge & Skills**:
- Ability to understand and develop engineering instructions and drawings
- Flexible and adaptable including being able to work in a small team
- Able to lead and manage a team
- Ability to plan and deliver on-time to meet business objectives
- A good understanding of rolling stock maintenance practices and depot operations or knowledge of engineering and railway standards and legislation
- A background in engineering management
- The incumbent shall be experienced in dealing with customer and stakeholder engagement, managing projects, developing technical documentation, and supplier liaison.
- Familiar with the use of computer systems to develop maintenance documentation and able to use graphic generation packages such as CAD.
