**Join the team at a small independent day school for pupils with autism. The school provides specialised teaching for Primary, Secondary and Sixth Form pupils, aged 4 to 19, who have a diagnosis on the autism spectrum..**

**Salary:£70 to £80 per day / £350 to £400 per week**

The school helps pupils develop their skills, understanding and confidence to reach their full potential and, as far as possible, lead full and independent lives.

They are currently recruiting for a Teaching Assitant to join their team and develop a highly rewarding career with them.

**The Role**:

- Your role is to support the children with their learning and general wellbeing to ensure every child has the best opportunity to reach their full potential in a caring and safe environment.
- You will establish a warm, caring and supportive relationship with pupils in order to support them feeling safe and enabling them to enjoy and learn during their time at the School, and to promote and encourage independence and personal development in pupilsand maintain high expectations of behaviour at all times.
- In addition, you will be trained in following proactive strategies to prevent risk and using positive methods to engage with pupils
- Each pupil will have an individual plan and you will be trained in strategies that will guide you in following and implementing the plans
- You will be involved in activities as identified on their individual plans in terms of daily timetables, set by the Occupational Therapist or that are curriculum based

Activities include but are not limited to swimming, horse riding, running and trampolining.

**Skills and Qualifications**:

- Experience working with or supporting individuals with special needs
- Your own transport would be desirable due to location of school
- GCSE Maths and English
- Understanding Safeguarding and Child Protection principles
- Ability to adapt and be resilient
- The desire to put the child first and treat them as an individual?
- Be positive and creative in assisting to meet pupils' individual needs?
