**Principal Hydrologist**:

**The Role**:
The key skills/attributes required for this Principal Hydrologist role are:

- 7+ years of relevant industry experience (or similar demonstrable skills).
- A full member of (or working towards) a relevant professional body, e.g. CIWEM, ICE.
- Demonstrable experience working within the Scottish marketplace within the energy, linear infrastructure and development sectors, including consultations with SEPA, NatureScot, Scottish Water and other local flood risk authorities. Experience working within England and Wales would be advantageous.
- Experience in managing projects (including site survey works) relating to hydrology, hydrogeology, peatland management and/or flood risk management.
- An in-depth understanding of the requirements of the planning process (including for EIA, NSIPs and DCOs), with relation to hydrology, hydrogeology, peatland management and/or flood risk management.
- A competent user of QGIS, AutoCAD and other industry modelling software, with the ability to mentor others.
- Previous experience within mentoring, project management, resource management, bids and tenders, line management and quality assurance.
- Willingness to be involved in Business Development activities.
- CSCS card
- Outdoor Emergency First Aid certified
- Lantra 4×4 Driving certified
- A full driving licence suitable for the UK.

**Salary & Benefits**:
Gavia offers an attractive salary of £55-65k (depending on experience), along with other benefits, including: hybrid working, 25 days holiday + Scottish Bank Holidays, holiday purchase scheme, contributory pension scheme, Cycle-to-Work Scheme, Discounted IT purchases, Health Insurance and contribution to gym membership.

Additionally, we aim to provide logístical and administrative support at all levels to minimise expenses for staff with: pool cars/vans and fuel cards available, accommodation pre-booked/paid, Site Based PPE Provided, Outdoor Thermal/Waterproof Clothing and Walking and Safety Boots Provided, equipment required for the role will also be provided e.g. computer, tablet, mobile phone, binoculars, weather-writers, etc.

**Additional Information**:
For this role, you must have evidence of the right to work in the UK. Unfortunately, we are not able to offer a relocation package with this job role.
