Head of Internal Audit - Manchester or Derby
Rolls-Royce SMR are looking to appoint a Head of Internal Audit. This is a newly created role which will work with the Director of Internal Audit to build and develop an Audit team.

**About the position**
The Head of Internal Audit (HIA) will provide leadership for a small team of audit staff and will be responsible for the day-to-day development and execution of the Internal Audit Plan for RR SMR. The HIA will support the Director of Internal Audit (DIA)to provide a high-quality internal audit service to successfully deliver a fleet of SMR’s, both in the UK and globally, from design through to manufacture and assembly.The HIA will build the capability of the internal audit function to deliver a strong,value-added service, with a focus on strategic risks and opportunities facing the Company.
Internal Audit plays a key role in supporting management to establish an efficient and effective organisation with robust governance arrangements and a proportionate control environment.The HIA will need to demonstrate resilience and tact in the face ofchallenge from senior staff, including negotiation to overcome such situations.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Engage effectively with senior stakeholders to support the identification and management of key risks and to promote effective governance, risk management, control and assurance arrangements.
- Deliver the Audit Plans in line with quality, time and budget requirements to support robust assurance opinions and other agreed stakeholder requirements. This will involve leading a small team of auditors and working with our co-source audit partner.
- Lead and/or deliver high risk or complex audit assignments.
- Deliver robust, evidence-based, independent assurance opinions to management and the Audit & Risk Committee in accordance with the agreed timetables. Lead continuous improvement activities to improve audit practices, products, and customer service.
- Ensure the team are compliant with professional standards and our audit methodology.
- Lead people to manage, recognise and reward good performance; promote personal and professional development; nurture and manage talent. Act promptly on feedback and issues.
- Promote equality and diversity.
- Having the ability to influence a diverse senior stakeholder community to develop effective governance, risk management and internal control arrangements.
- Demonstrate resilience and tact in the face of challenge from senior staff, including negotiation to overcome such situations.
**Pay and Benefits**
A highly competitive salary is on offer along with a performance related bonus. Salary is up to £90,000 + a cash allowance
A range of flexible benefits are available to choose from, enabling you to create a bespoke package to suit your needs.
Travel: The primary locations for this role would be Manchester or Derby. Flexible / hybrid working are available.
Working hours are 37.5 hrs per week with some additional hours as and when required.
**Who we are**
Rolls-Royce SMR’s small modular reactor (SMR) programme is the first of its kind in the UK,
with the opportunity to develop a factory-built nuclear power plant that is deliverable and scalable at a global level.
A Rolls-Royce SMR power station will have the capacity to generate 470mw of low carbon energy, equivalent to more than 150 onshore wind turbines. It will provide consistent baseload generation for at least 60 years, helping to support the roll-out of renewablegeneration.
In addition to stable base load power, Rolls-Royce SMRs will be able to provide energy for the Net Zero manufacture of green hydrogen and synthetic fuels, to support the path to Net Zero and the decarbonisation of transport.
When fully operational the Rolls-Royce SMR programme is forecast to create 40,000 regional UK jobs by 2050 and generate £52bn in economic benefit.
