**Requirements**:

- An excellent knowledge of empty container operations.
- Self-motivated, flexible approach to work; disciplined, organised and have a can do attitude
- Have a valid Empty Container Handler Licence and Fork Lift Truck Licence and demonstrate excellent driving skills
- Excellent health & safety awareness.
- The ability to use initiative, and meet tight deadlines.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with demonstrable experience of working with customers.
- Work effectively in a team environment

**Main Duties**:

- Support the Operations Manager/Supervisor with the day to day operation of empty container operations ensuring adherence to Company policies and ensuring the services provided are carried out in a safe, timely and cost-effective manner.
- Assist with ensuring that all of the site operations are carried out in accordance with the requirements of all statutory legislation, dock regulations, and Company operational and Health & Safety policies.
- Promote a positive safety culture throughout the team and promptly report & investigate any accidents or incidents.
- Ensuring the timely unloading/loading of vehicles.
- Making sure all shipping lines are stock rotated and all long stay boxes are loaded first.
- Locating relevant nominated containers in the yard
- Adhering to lists supplied by the supervisor.- Responsible for selecting correct shipping line from the stacks, check the containers for damage, clean if necessary and then load onto road lorries. Carrying out process in reverse when unloading
- Carry out regular inspections, ensuring that general housekeeping of the yard is maintained to the very highest standards during and after the yards opening hours.
- Liaise with the supervisor regarding any maintenance, service and repair work required to all machinery and equipment utilised at the terminals, and ensuring that all machinery and equipment is kept in a clean and serviceable condition and all defects are recorded on a daily basis.

Any other duties as required from time to time by the Company.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: £19.80 per hour

Expected hours: 55 per week
