**Previous experience**
- Ideally worked as a sonographer assistant, dealing directly with patients, a healthcare assistant role would be considered
- Excellent IT and communication skills
- Worked flexibly and independently managing workload with the rest of the team
**Qualifications**
- Good level of education - ideally to 5 GCSE level
- Current full driving licence with access to car (will be required to carry equipment to different workplaces - in GP practices in the surrounding areas of East and West Kent.
- Desirable - healthcare assistant qualification / equiv NVQ
**Other Essential Job Qualifications**
- Can work flexibly across days of the week ( will be a pattern of working)
**KEY RESULTS AREAS/RESPONSIBILITIES**:
- Support the registered clinician in implementation of an agreed plan of care with the patient and in accordance with instructions and training received.
- Receive and welcome patients, their relatives and carers and put them at ease
- Assist the sonographer in transporting the portable ultrasound scanner and kit from one GP practice to another and setting up equipment, under supervision, in readiness for the start of the clinic
- Travel between clinics on agreed days of the week within Kent area
- Setting up the room for each clinic using health and safety check list
- Act as a chaperone for ultrasound procedures
- Maintain an inventory of clinical disposables and assist in the management of stock levels
- Undertake administrative duties including booking appointments and data input into Surgimed Healthcare’s electronic records
- Contribute to a team approach to patient care in conjunction with all members of the multidisciplinary team
- Assist in the maintenance of room cleanliness and tidiness and adhere to infection control policy and procedures at all times.
- Participate in regular meetings and attend other meetings as requested
**EQUIPMENT MANAGEMENT**
- To be responsible for the care of equipment within your charge and the maintenance of a clean and tidy work environment.
- Transportation of mobile sonography equipment
**FINANCIAL AND RESOURCE MANAGEMENT**
- Ensure resources are used as effectively as possible, and waste is kept to a minimum.
- Identify and implement ideas for cost improvement and/or income generation
**COMMUNICATION**
- Establish and maintain close and harmonious relationships with all staff, patients and the general public to ensure an effective exchange of information.
- Provide, receive and negotiate complex, sensitive and/or contentious information where there are significant barriers to communication.
**INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY**
- Accurately record and input data on Surgimed Healthcare’s computer systems
- Use the information system as required and within the Information Governance Framework
- Only access Surgimed Healthcare systems, where you have a legitimate reason to do so
**RISK MANAGEMENT**
- Minimise risk by ensuring best practice is maintained at all times.
- Assist with Risk Assessments as required.
- Adhere to all Surgimed Healthcare’s policies, guidelines and procedures.
- Promote, monitor and maintain health, safety and security in the workplace.
- Ensure practice is at all times compliant with infection control policy and procedures.
- Ensure that the physical safety of patients, staff and visitors is optimised at all times
- Attend all required mandatory training.
**Job Type**: Part-time
**Salary**: £10.15-£10.25 per hour
Schedule:
- 8 hour shift
- Day shift
- Monday to Friday
- Weekend availability
COVID-19 considerations:
Staff will be required to wear personal protective clothing (scrubs, masks, and gloves). Observe safe hygiene procedures.
