Job Introduction
** About BBC Studios**

BBC Studios is a global creative powerhouse involved in the development, production, and distribution of bold, British content. Producing over 2,500 hours of content per year, our global presence has earned BBC Studios a worldwide reputation for producing first-class audio and visuals.

**Introducing the Role and why might you be Interested**:
The world of royalties is a fascinating combination of creative content, numbers, percentages, contracts and systems and is an essential element of how BBC Studios engages and works with external parties to deliver amazing programmes and services.

So if your interests include working with numbers, keeping things in order, creativity, and of course music and TV - then this opportunity will bring all this together in a rewarding and challenging role.

It also places you front and centre in amongst the workings of a TV company - so you are well placed for progression and a truly diverse career.

BBC Studios needs someone to join our Music Reporting Team as a Royalty Assistant.

The Music Reporting Team sits within our Talent Accounting department, and plays a vital role in ensuring that BBC Studios can continue to produce industry-leading content.

As our Royalty Assistant, you will bring the essential numerical and organisational support needed to assist the Music Reporting Team in ensuring that BBC Studios continues to meet its royalty and reporting obligations to the UK’s main music collection societies: PRS, MCPS and PPL. You’ll be a reliable go-to person who shows initiative and a keenness to get things right - a great way to build your expertise and knowledge.

Main Responsibilities

Prepare and organise quarterly sales reports for submission to music collection societies. An ability to be diligent and consistent will be key.

Assist with validating invoices received from the music collection societies.

Provide music-related information to other teams within Talent Accounting to support the calculation of payments due to production companies. As a collaborative team we all work closely together to produce the end result. You’ll need to be a team player.

Update and maintain databases with sales and payment data to support business analysis.

Assist the Music Royalties Executive with the monthly reporting processes. Getting this right first time is a key responsibility.

Interpret music rights information and advise the collection societies of productions and rights that sit outside of our blanket agreements, requiring an eye for detail and understanding of music rights.

**_ At BBC Studios, we love people who are just as immersed and passionate about who we are and what we do as we are._**
- This role would ideally suit someone who is a self-starter, has a genuine eagerness to learn, and brings a willingness to go the extra mile.
- You will be highly organised - a strong planner with the ability to manage a busy workload against a rigid timetable of deadlines. You will have a good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, an aptitude for database and analytical work, and a prowess in summarising complex data.
- You’ll be right at home with the numbers and be able to demonstrate a methodical approach to business matters. You will have excellent attention to detail, and have an eye for identifying and resolving potential challenges. You will be forward-thinking, conscientious, and keen to solve any problems should they arise.
- As an effective communicator you’ll have the confidence and tone required to converse with a range of stakeholders, and the ability to liaise with multiple teams across the BBC as we deal with lots of different people and departments.
- All of this means we need a real team-player, someone who can work well in a small team, and collaborate across a range of business activities.
- In terms of credentials, ideally you will have an interest in royalties or music rights, or perhaps experience in the world of auditing or finance. However, at BBC Studios we recognise that not everyone follows the same path - so whether you’re a graduate or a professional, we would love to hear from you if you have strong numerical skills, a willingness to learn, and a desire to immerse yourself in the world of music royalties.

**What You Get In Return**:

- We’ll pay you a competitive wage, and bump up your pension with a generous contribution.
- You’ll get the opportunity to develop not only your work skills, but also personal aspects that will support and aid your wellbeing. You decide the areas you want to enhance.
- Excellent career progression - The BBC offers great opportunities for employees to seek new challenges and work in different areas of the organisation.
- You’ll receive a package of benefits that includes discounted health, dental and gym membership - and enjoy our great facilities on site.
- 26 days holiday (including a corporation day) plus the option to buy up to 5 more if your travel bug
