Clinical Fellow in Lung Cancer and Ebus
Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust is looking to appoint a Clinical Fellow (CF) in Lung Cancer and EBUS in the Respiratory Medicine Department.
We are seeking a senior applicant who will contribute towards our lung cancer service and help us meeting the Optimal Lung Cancer Pathway targets. This post will provide an excellent training and development opportunity in the sub-specialty of lung cancer and bronchoscopy.
**The Clinical Fellow will**:
- Support Specialist Thoracic Oncology Service (Outpatient clinics & In-patient advice), including support for the ‘Targeted Lung Health Check’ programme and the virtual lung nodule service
- To join Bronchoscopy/EBUS lists.
- To participate in clinical teaching of the Department, both undergraduate and postgraduate
- To develop clinical research projects
Respiratory Medicine Departments at GSTT and Royal Brompton Hospital, which has now merged with GSTT, provide exceptional opportunities for clinical and research training. There is close collaboration between the GSTT Respiratory Medicine Department and Cancer Centre at Guy’s Hospital, which would provide the CF with excellent opportunities to develop skills and experience in managing patients with thoracic cancers as well as pulmonary complications of oncological therapies.
The tertiary EBUS service at GSTT is one of the largest in Europe; therefore, there would be ample opportunity to develop expertise in EBUS across a broad spectrum of indications aiming to become independent operator. There is also a new Navigation Bronchoscopy service at GSTT, in collaboration with Thoracic Surgery that would allow the CF opportunity to acquire skills in this area too.
GSTT is the Lead provider in South-East London for the ‘Targeted Lung Health Check’ programme; involvement of the CF with this project will provide exposure to strategies for early detection of lung cancer and in managing community based public health initiatives.
Please see the attached job description, person specification and functional requirement form for more information.
