Applications are invited from registered medical practitioners, who have a special interest in Elderly Care to work in a 6-month fixed term post at an Independent Medical Practitioner (GP) with expanded Scope level.
This new appointment is for 2 days at Trust Consultant level. The post will be based in the Community Hospitals in Leicester, Leicestershire, and Rutland. The post holder will be employed on a fixed term basis by LPT but may be expected to work seamlessly across both organisations (LPT and University Hospitals of Leicester) as required. It is envisaged that the appointee will also hold an honorary clinical role with University Hospitals Leicester (UHL). There will be a cross-organisational steering group that jointly manages the post, and there will be a shared governance as well as shared education and training.
The post will be a key part of the older person in-patient offer. Current plans provide for Advanced Nurse Practitioners (ANPs) in delivering daily cover to each of the 10 wards, calling upon the interface geriatrician or GP with expanded scope for specialist advice as and when needed. The post holder will be expected to deliver ward rounds twice a week across all community wards on a locality basis.
