**Where will you be working?**
At M Group Water we help our clients safeguard the water supply, improve environmental performance and manage demand for future generations. We enhance and extend asset life, ensuring compliance with water quality and environmental standards. We’re problem solvers with over 140 years of combined experience in engineering and infrastructure.
This role will join BES - which provides a fully-integrated service to clients within the pharmaceutical, life sciences and healthcare sectors, using our expertise to develop bespoke solutions to meet each client’s project-specific requirements. We combine design, digital innovation and construction capabilities to provide a complete multidisciplinary offering, including process engineering, structural and civil, architectural, mechanical/HVAC and electrical services.
**What will you be doing?**
- We’re looking for a talented Architectural Designer to lead the design process from concept through to construction on complex, high-spec projects in the pharmaceutical, life sciences, and healthcare sectors. Reporting to the Design Lead, you’ll take ownership of architectural design, safety, quality, and planning, while collaborating closely with engineers and construction teams to deliver compliant, efficient, and innovative facilities.
You’ll carry out detailed site surveys, develop designs through RIBA stages 1-5, prepare working drawings and specifications, and manage documentation for statutory submissions.
- You’ll liaise with clients to understand their needs, produce flow diagrams, and ensure CDM compliance through design risk assessments.
- You’ll also support procurement planning, mentor junior engineers, and contribute to the development of unique, commercially viable design solutions.
**What you’ll bring**
- HNC qualified in Building Services, ideally educated to degree level
- Ideally a registered Architect (or working toward registration) with a degree in Architecture
- 7+ years’ architectural experience, with cleanroom/pharma project exposure preferred
- Strong grasp of GMP, cleanroom design, and regulated environments
- Proficient in Revit, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office; BIM coordination a plus
- Experienced in turnkey project coordination across construction, HVAC, and M&E
- Knowledgeable in UK/international building regs, CDM, and ISO 9001
- Creative, commercially aware designer with a collaborative, client-focused approach
- Confident leading integrated teams and engaging with senior stakeholders
