Senior Early Years Practitioner

**ABOUT THE VACANCY**
We are looking to recruit an energetic, motivated and forward-thinking senior early years practitioner to join our 2-3 room. You will be required to work as an enthusiastic, effective member of the team supporting, leading and motivating staff to nurture children and create stimulating learning opportunities that deliver a high quality child-centred early years provision which meets the needs of our youngest children and their families. You will be an innovative educator who will work in partnership with others to lead and develop the service.
Experience in delivering Pre-Birth to Three is required and a working knowledge of Realising the Ambition and GIRFEC.
Minimum of 3 years nursery experience is essential and one year experience as a team leader would be preferred.
You will also be required to meet the registration requirements or be a practitioner with SSSC and be a member of the PVG scheme.
**MAIN FUNCTIONS**
To work with nursery children to enable them to maximise their learning and development**. **To work as an effective member of the nursery management team to assist in the delivery of high quality of early learning & childcare for children and their families. To work as an effective team coordinator to assist and liaise with the management team of the nursery.
**JOB RESPONSIBILITIES**
- To contribute to the provision of a safe, caring, healthy, secure, pleasant and stimulating nursery environment for all.
- To communicate effectively with children, parents, staff and other professionals and to advise and liaise with nursery managers on any issues.
- To contribute to and implement a relevant curriculum in line with national and local guidance.
- To plan, record in writing, implement and evaluate suitable programmes of activities for all children.
- To observe, record in writing, assess, evaluate and report on children’s progress and developments in line with council policies and procedures.
- To maintain and record children’s assessment progress and complete transfer of information reports as required and to advise and support other staff in this process.
- To respond to specific needs of children, to devise, support, monitor and review Stepped Intervention and Child’s Plan’s as required, in collaboration with other staff.
- To liaise with and undertake joint work with relevant support agencies to meet the needs of children and their families.
- To promote parental participation and provide support and advice as appropriate.
- To participate in parents evenings.
- To participate in twilight training sessions and workshops for parents where appropriate.
- To participate in the overall development of the nursery and be involved in the evaluation and development of planning process within the nursery.
- To work with and supervise the training of students and to act as a role model.
- To keep up to date with early years initiatives and developments.
- To participate in training and professional development opportunities in line with Company policy.
- To prepare and deliver training workshops for staff
- To contribute to the delivery of an effective service in line with establishment policies and procedures.
- To contribute to the review, preparation and development of Company policies
- To be responsible for a clean and hygienic environment and comply with Health and Safety regulations and to advise and support other staff in this process.
- To contribute to the organisation and management of resources.
- To comply with all Company policies, national guidance legislation relevant to the duties of the post.
- To support the nursery management staff and to deputise for them in their absence.
- To take responsibility for the opening and closing of the premises when required.
- To undertake the role and responsibilities of the Enhanced Senior in the event of their absence.
- To undertake any other tasks relevant to the duties of the post as delegated by the Nursery Manager.
