**Job Purpose**
In this role the Enterprise Architect will ensure that the business and technology are in alignment by linking the business mission, strategy, and processes of an organization to its technology strategy, and by documenting this using multiple architecturalmodels or views.
**Key Accountabilities**
- Defines the vision for domain and solution architectures across a complex business process and systems landscape
- Peer support to the Delivery Managers providing structural integrity to technical delivery
- Ensure that programme solutions provided conform to the programme objectives and vision.
- Approval of the solution architecture and design through relevant governance processes
- Leads development of solution architectures, ensuring consistency with specified requirements agreed with both external and internal customers. Takes full responsibility for ensuring that solution architectures balance functional, service quality and systemsmanagement requirements. Ensures that appropriate standards are adhered to. Within a business change programme, manages the programme's target design, policies and standards, working proactively to achieve a stable and viable design.
- Communicates the technical design of multiple significant programmes and the rationale driving that design within the architecture and wider community.
- Co-ordinates design activity across programmes, acting as custodian of plans for the end IT product. Takes responsibility for the technical integrity of projects, ensuring that common technical elements are recognised and that work is not unnecessarilyduplicated. Assists in the development of service level agreements and any associated service guarantees. Advises on appropriate quality standards and quality control processes. Attends quality reviews as appropriate.
- Monitors technical progress, ensuring that co-ordination and change control are applied to technical specifications and to the technical infrastructure. Advises on the impact of changes to the programme and on the process for assessing such impact. Informsproject management of major technical issues and makes recommendations on their resolution. Ensures that all changes are managed effectively and contributes to formal reviews and evaluations when projects and programmes end.
- Develops new techniques for use in solution architecture. Promotes the solution architecture discipline within the wider IT community.
- Drive development and maintenance of cost transparency and value tracking models for solutions across a programme
- Takes an active role in the development of other staff through mentoring of more junior SA resources.
- Support the development of Digital Roadmap with Enterprise Architecture and Product Teams
**Experience Required**
- Demonstrable track record in delivery of solution architecture for programmes of work. Breadth of knowledge in ensuring that relevant platforms (e.g., systems of record, analytics, integration) are brought together to support overall programme architecture
- Experience of legacy estate rationalisation
- Stakeholder management and influencing skills covering colleagues, partners / vendors and project sponsors.
- To have recognized expertise in one or more of the following TOGAF architectural domains: Business, Application, Data, Technology
- Relevant experience of the full Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC) processes and tooling - from EA to implementation including Agile, Iterative, Prototyping and Waterfall
- Demonstrable experience of software engineering delivery and leadership capability
- Utilities experience highly beneficial.
- Awareness of use and value of design and architecture tools such as System Architect, Rational Rose, Casewise, Aris or equivalent.
- Experience of working in SAFe environment preferable
