We are seeking an economic development professional to help support and deliver a wide range of important economic initiatives, as part of the Oxford Economic Strategy. The primary need is to be the council’s programme lead for a programme of non-city centre district business support, overseeing the programmes successful delivery of outputs and outcomes in Oxford over an initial 2 years of implementation. The role is also integral to other corporate priorities, including social value in procurement and community wealth building. Now is a good time to join the growing team and widening Regeneration, Economy and Sustainability Service working to further established strategies, policies and plans in place which all have momentum towards making a real impact locally.

Oxford is a leading centre for innovation and education in the UK, but at the same time suffers from some of the highest levels of inequality in the country. Consequently, fostering an Inclusive Economy for the residents and businesses of Oxford is one of Oxford City Council’s key priorities. The Principal Economy Officer will play a key role in working in partnership with key stakeholders in establishing our agenda of work for the inclusive economy, as well as delivering the economic strategy, and supporting the city’s regeneration programme.

A key focus for this role is to be a champion for Oxford’s economic and regeneration priorities and opportunities which requires an active problem-solver with a strategic outlook. The role involves enabling delivery of key schemes and projects within the Oxford Economic Strategy. You will address these priorities with innovative and smart approaches.
