**MAIN DUTIES**:To contribute to providing a high quality, effective and efficient reception and administrative support to patients, clinicians and the practice manager

1. Responsible for receiving requests from patients by telephone or in person for clinicians and entering into a computerised appointment system.

2. Accepting and registering new patients, checking details of registration and offering new patient health check.

3. Responsible for dealing with queries and enquiries that patient presents with at reception or by telephone e.g. results, change of personal details, requests to speak to doctors or nurses.

4. Responsible for receiving requests for repeat prescriptions, issuing of signed prescriptions and dealing with queries related to prescriptions

5. Providing on line access to patients who request patient facing services

6. Follow all relevant procedures and processes in line with policies for access to medical records and to support other health care professionals providing care to our patients

7. Carrying out computer work, which incorporates computerised appointments, checking details of patients, checking result of tests along with completing tasks as per request

8. Responsible for administrative support to any other special clinics that may need to be held. Sending patient appointments and ensuring notes are kept up to date.

9. Responsible for typing correspondence for the practice, including referrals to other services

10. Collating patient medical details for home visits as per visit book.

11. Scanning and electronic filing of reports, correspondence, results from various sources into patient notes.

12. To attend staff and team meetings within the practice

13. Liaise with staff working in the building including attached staff

14. Collect daily mail form the Health Centre main desk, open and sort mail

15. Ensure that the safety and security of the building is adhered to at all times.

16. Provide relief cover for other colleagues during sickness and holiday periods.

17. To undertake any other duties or responsibilities which may reasonably be required.

18. Checking test results have been viewed by the GP

19. Ensure that the reception protocols are kept up to date and amend accordingly with permission from the practice manager

20. Responsible for the accurate and efficient typing of all referrals and GP letters.

21. To be confident and efficient in all areas of the Electronic Referrals Service System and ensure that all referrals/letters are completed to deadlines with no outstanding referrals carried over to the following week apart from the GP’s Friday evening sessions that could generate referrals.

22. To comply with all care and quality control regulations including CQC inspections, help QOF target achievement and patient care improvement.

**Experience**
- Previous reception work, including dealing with the general public.
- IT Literate.
- General office procedures.

- Previous GP reception and / or administration experience.
