Materials Planner

**Overview**
The Materials Planner is responsible for managing inventory levels and ensuring timely procurement of components and supplies. The role involves analysing stock levels, forecasting material requirements, coordinating with suppliers, and working closely with production and warehouse teams to ensure seamless material flow and cost-effective purchasing.
**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Analyse materials requirements in line with business planning and customer sales forecast information
- Monitor inventory levels to ensure optimal stock, while minimizing excess and obsolete materials.
- Process purchase orders, track deliveries, and resolve discrepancies in shipments or invoices.
- Coordinate with production and warehouse teams to align material availability with manufacturing needs.
- Work with suppliers to improve lead times and reduce costs while maintaining quality standards.
- Assist in resolving material shortages, quality issues, and supplier-related challenges.
- Monitor, report and communicate corrective actions in relation to material shortages. (resolution dates, alternative products etc.)
- Liaise with key suppliers to agree material forecasts to support procurement decisions and purchasing actions
- **Ensure that PO’s are raised in a timely manner and effectively managed with the suppliers**
- **Ensure that purchasing data in the system is updated and accurate, including updating confirmed delivery dates from suppliers**
- **Expedite orders to maintain consistent stock levels, preventing any supply disruptions.**
- **Escalate any issues that may pose a risk to manufacturing/distribution schedules, and work with key stakeholders to ensure clear communication and resolution.**
- **Report non-conforming materials to the relevant suppliers.**
**MEASURES OF SUCCESS/KPI’s**
- Inventory levels of components and supplies maintained at desired levels, resulting in mínimal stock outs and low overstock
- Excellent time and task management.
- Achieving the KPI’s set for Planning & Purchasing
- Improving Planning & Purchasing processes.
**Person Specification**
CIPS
Strong organisational and time management skills
Good understanding of supply chain management and manufacturing processes
Coordination with other functions, ensuring contribution and delivery of clear/relevant critical data
Supplier relationship management including support for procurement with supplier performance reviews
Previous experience of materials planning in a similar manufacturing environment
Good level of IT literacy (Excel)
Confident and clear communicator
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Able to challenge processes and think proactively to solve issues
Ability to demonstrate high levels of resilience and flexibility in a dynamic environment
Specifically: Sage, BM and Excel skills would be of great benefit
Proficiency in ERP/MRP systems

Pay: £28,000.00-£30,000.00 per year
