**Join EDF as a Curve Trader and you’ll play a key role in executing EDF’s hedging strategies, including for our Generation, Business, Residential and SME businesses. This will be executed within a defined risk appetite, hedging framework and risk limit structure.**

The role sits in our Wholesale Markets Optimisation area which is responsible for adding value and managing market risk across the UK portfolio. You will work closely with a wide range of teams including our Short Term Trading, Demand Forecasting, Sales, Market Analysis and Asset Operations to understand risks, develop opportunities and deliver trading value.

All wholesale market activity is carried out in accordance with the Risk Mandate, maximising value within risk limits, and you will work closely with the Market Risk Team to ensure that the appropriate Risk/Reward is being taken

**The opportunity**

As a Curve Trader you’ll manage the combined EDF energy commodity positions over the Curve horizon trading in the wholesale market through our route to market with EDF Trading. You’ll maintain an FCA equivalent compliant deal execution service for the purpose of executing physical and financial trading instruments with EDF trading and ensure that all activities remain compliant with FCA, Market Abuse Regulation, Competition Law and Regulation on Energy Market Integrity and Transparency.

The Curve Trader will operate the EBS Customer Desk, ensuring that EDF provides a market leading route to market service for Large Business customers, delivering a best in class trading service to help our customers access the wholesale market and manage their risk. You’ll execute prompt gas trading, responding to Optimisation opportunities and short-term weather risk and manage credit risk.

The Curve Trader will contribute to the overall trading P&L and maintain and execute any required internal trades, ensuring the integrity of EDF Energy’s transfer pricing processes and support Finance in producing and auditing the Consolidated Segmented Statements. You’ll carry out Trading Desk Processes ensuring that all relevant business risk including legal, regulatory and policy compliance are identified, assessed, recorded and managed through appropriate internal controls.

**What we’re looking for**

Being a Curve Trader at EDF means you’ll have excellent knowledge of the UK wholesale energy markets and an understanding of risk management techniques and measures, with the ability to balance operational complexity against the risk management benefits derived from precise hedging. You’ll have a strong knowledge of wholesale market regulations which include, REMIT, ETR and Market Abuse Regulation alongside a strong commercial acumen.

You’ll have experience of working within a regulated trading role and have an affinity with trading and risk management systems. The Curve Trader will be able to establish and maintain effective internal and external relationships and an ability to deal with ambiguity, ensuring clarity of communication.
