**Job summary**:

- We are recruiting for an Assistant Psychologist to join our Community Learning Disabilities team on the Isle of Wight.
- You will support and enhance the psychological care of clients within the service, across sectors of care; providing psychological assessment and psychological interventions under the supervision of a qualified professional psychologist; carrying out assessments contributing to the diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Condition; working independently according to a plan agreed with a qualified psychologist and within the overall framework of the team's policies and procedures.
- The post holder will assist in clinically related administration, audit, collection of data, development of audit and/or research projects, teaching and other project work.
- **Main duties, tasks & skills required**:

- 2.To contribute to the Autism Spectrum Condition diagnostic clinic, via the delivery of structured assessments and the provision of post-diagnostic support.
- 3.To assist in the formulation and delivery of care plans involving the psychological treatment and/or management of a client's problems, under supervision of a qualified clinical psychologist in a community setting.
5.To assist in the coordination and running of therapeutic groups (e.g. post-diagnostic support groups for clients with Autism Spectrum Condition).
- 6.To assist in the development of a psychologically based framework of understanding and care to the benefit of all clients of the service.
- 7.To attend and contribute to appropriate multi-disciplinary meetings.
- 8.To provide advice and information to carers and staff on the treatment and management of psychological health care needs of clients.

- **Essential**:

- An upper second-class honours degree in psychology or equivalent.
- **Desirable**:

- Entitlement to graduate membership of the British Psychological Society
- Further post graduate training in relevant areas of professional psychology, mental health practice and/or research design and analysis
- **Experience**:

- **Essential**:

- An upper second-class honours degree in psychology or equivalent
- Keyboard skills, driving skills when working in the community,
- Use of basic psychometric test equipment
- An ability to interact with staff from all disciplines.
- An ability to interact with people with mental health problems or disabilities.
