**Practice Accountant**
**Location**: Durham, DH1 2LH.
**Salary**: Competitive, DOE.
**Contract**: Full time, permanent (9.00am - 5pm, Monday - Friday).
TaxAssist Accountants are the largest network of accountants, currently working from over 300 locations throughout the UK, and now expanding with Offices in Ireland, Australia, Canada, and the United States. We are a Times top 25 accountancy company which isowned by the franchisees and managers.
We focus our accountancy skills specifically on small businesses and taxpayers needing a tax return in the UK. They specialise in providing accountancy services, tax returns, payroll, bookkeeping, tax savings, and tax advice to small businesses. They have 80,000clients including Sole Traders, Partnerships, Limited Companies and Personal Taxpayers.
We are currently looking for a Practice Accountant to join our Durham office. This is a permanent position, working full time (9.00am - 5pm, Monday - Friday).
- Liaising with clients.
- Being commercially aware and looking for opportunities.
- Helping clients become digital.
- Bookkeeping.
- VAT return preparation taking on MTD aspects.
- Limited company accounts preparation and CT600’s.
- Sole trader, partnership, rental accounts - Personal tax returns preparation.
- Company secretarial processes.
- Payroll processes.
- Ad hoc work as required.
- Self-motivated and able to work to tight deadlines.
- Experience of accounting software but especially QuickBooks, Xero, and TaxCalc preferable.
**Experience**:

- Minimum 2 years’ experience within an accountancy practice is essential.
- Part qualified or more substantial experience but without qualifications would be considered.
- Software - TaxCalc, QuickBooks, Xero, and BrightPay payroll software.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel knowledge
- Dealing with HMRC.
- Payroll & CIS awareness.

- Comfortable talking to small business owners about their accounts and tax returns at their level.
- Good communicator with a proactive, enthusiastic and customer-focused approach.
- Self-starter.
- Ability to multi-task and manage allocated workload.
- Reliable, discrete and confidential with good attention to detail.
- Flexible, adaptable and a team player
- A desire to progress with a can-do attitude
**Role and schedule**:

- Permanent position
- Hours 9:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday to Friday
- Remote working only available in emergency
