Operational Deputy Superintendent responsible for supporting the efficient day to day running of the General Radiography Department including Projection Radiography, Portables and Theatre Imaging.

Managing a team of staff and liaising with the wider Trust ensuring safe and efficient service delivery. Attendance at meetings on behalf of Superintendent when needed, HR responsibilities. High quality care of the patient and a well developed knowledge base is essential.

To be responsible for the efficient day to day running of General Radiography Services.

To ensure the highest quality imaging is performed and to assist in the adjustment and development of protocols.

To act as the General safety person responsible for safe practice alongside or in the absence of the General Superintendent Radiographer.

To be the Radiation Protection Supervisor (RPS) for General Imaging this is a legally required post under IRR17 being responsible for ensuring compliance with the local radiation safety rules.

To lead on the recruitment of General staff, set objectives and perform appraisal reviews.

To encourage and support the further education of staff in the General Team.

To assist the Superintendent Radiographer in developing a multi-skilled team in General encouraging role extension for all staff groups and ensure excellent staff development opportunities are available.

To foster smooth working relationships and work with the multidisciplinary team to maintain a robust service for the delivery of imaging services which will maintain diagnostic targets.

To ensure the highest quality of care and support for patients, relatives, and carers.

To produce statistics and validate waiting lists and turnaround times for General Imaging.

To maintain a programme of audit to evidence good practice and facilitate service improvement.

**Staff development, training, and mentorship**:
To provide support and supervision to staff of all bands in their day-to-day duties prioritising their workloads and encouraging personal development.

Ensure all staff are aware of the Trust policies, protocols, and other documents, take appropriate action where compliance is breached.

To ensure that all staff undertake mandatory and role specific training.

To mentor all new radiographers in the General team ensuring they are supported through agreed training programmes and all competencies are achieved and validated.

To assist with formal staff appraisals and performance reviews in line with the Knowledge and Skills Framework and PDP.

To liaise with staff across the wider Trust to ensure good communication and continuity of care for patients.

To design and deliver relevant training when required to improve service, new technology or to increase staff skills.

To design and develop workshops, expert training, specialist training for staff within the Trust to expand skills / technology.

Attend relevant workshops to ensure CPD.

**Leadership**:
To be visible, accessible, and assertive lead figure to whom staff, patients and relatives can turn for assistance and guidance.

To act as a clinical expert in General Imaging and have the freedom to act in seeking to provide a high-quality experience to all users of the service, both external and internal.

Act as the Radiation Protection Supervisor (RPS) for General Imaging.

To act as an educational resource for all health care providers and patients within the service and act as a role model for other staff.
