Manchester, United Kingdom AMS Accountants Medical Ltd Full time

**AMS Medical - Accounts Trainee - Manchester**

Due to a sustained period of growth generated from the success of our existing team we are pleased to announce an opportunity for an Accounts Trainee to join us in our Manchester City Centre office. This is permanent role and for the right person the perfect development role with both exposure and progression limited only by your own individual abilities and commitment.

The team you will join forms part of the overall group that services a multitude of different people and businesses via the six departments we work from.

Over the past eight years there has been growth across all departments and with this the team has grown from fifteen to over seventy employees. Despite this a friendly, sociable and feel good environment is maintained across the board and the specific team you will be joining has a young core that proves to be a hotbed for development.

With the everchanging accounting and tax landscape here in the UK the challenges we face on all fronts change every single day, so you will never be far from the chance to learn something new or let your existing abilities shine.

Do you have a strong work ethic, inner motivation, enjoy being challenged and want to learn on the job in an environment that’s built for success then... **read on for the chance to join a top 100 accountancy firm that still has its staff as it’s number one priority**

**Your role with us...**

The role will centre around the compliance required for a selection of businesses that operate in the same sector. With this you will learn a lot about the specifics of what makes these businesses and more importantly their owners tick whilst building your own accounts knowledge and an understanding of commerciality. There will be a reliance on technology, but you will be supported to understand the concepts around VAT, PAYE, Tax and Accounts compliance with it.

**Your main responsibilities...**

After a detailed induction, and chance to find your feet and meet the team, a personal development plan will be created for you. This will be a key reference point to help you focus your energy and drive into the right areas and encourage you to realise your long-term goal of becoming a successful accountant within the firm.

Life will be fast paced, engaging and structured. with ongoing interaction across the team and the department. Your main responsibilities will include:

- Supporting the team with the preparation of VAT returns, monthly and quarterly Management Information, Year End compliance and Personal Tax Returns.
- Using cloud-based software to maintain clients accounting records.
- Liaising with clients as required to support their day to day needs.
- Other ad-hoc duties to provide a rounded knowledge of accountancy and aid with development.

As you would expect though every day is different and naturally you’ll find areas you enjoy more than others and these will become more prominent features of your role here with us.

**Your required skills...**

As our focus is always on you as an individual and your strengths nothing listed is essential but should be used as guide to what constitutes a solid foundation for this position:

- Previous experience in a similar role, at least 12 months.
- Previous experience with cloud accounting software.
- Previous experience in a client facing role, both verbal and written (not specific to accountancy).
- Strong IT, numeracy and literacy skills.

**Your people skills...**

Our existing team is built around a core set of values and we look for as many of these as possible within those who join us. Again, every individual is different but if you can say yes to any of the below then it’s a good start:

- Attitude - Do you have a positive impact on those around you?
- Commitment - Do you strive to complete anything set?
- Ethic - Do you work hard as a given with everything you do?
- Personable - Do you work well with others when required?

**Your rewards...**

It would be unfair for us to ask for so much out of you without giving something back so here’s a small selection of what’s on offer to successful applicants:

- Dedicated career development plan tailored towards you
- Peer to peer support and senior mentorship
- AAT leading to ACCA study support
- Flexible working hours and working from home/office
