Apprentice Assistant Practitioner sought for the Occupational Therapy Team in Scarborough. Humber Teaching NHS Foundation Trust see the value in supporting the development and progression of our people through apprenticeship pathways, combining vocational learning with on-the-job experience.

You will undertake a Level 5 Assistant Practitioner Apprenticeship whilst working with our Occupational Therapy team to gain the essential skills, knowledge and behaviours for this new role. Our Occupational Therapy team sits within our wider, multi-disciplinary service incorporating and working alongside physiotherapists, Community Nurses, Pharmacists, Dieticians, & Specialist Practitioners for Tissue Viability, Continence, Respiratory, Cardiac, Heart Failure, SaLT, & Diabetes. Together we provide care and rehabilitation to patients in their own homes & care homes helping them stay independent and healthy for as long as possible.

The duration of this apprenticeship will be 15-18 months and on successful completion you will progress into a Band 4 Assistant Practitioner role.
- Assessment and intervention to address difficulties with activities of daily living for a caseload of non-complex Occupational Therapy patients following clinical triage by, and under the supervision of, a qualified Occupational Therapist.
- Equipment provision & instruction in use
- Moving & handling of patients
- Recognise and escalate issues of concern and/or safety
- Attendance at Apprenticeship training days
- Self-directed learning as required for completion of qualification
- Participation in regular supervision sessions
