**Responsibilities**:
**Hours of Work**
Wednesday, Thursday & Friday 8.30am to 5pm (8 hours)
**General Maintenance**:
Perform general repairs and maintenance on the building and equipment, including painting, decorating, and finishing.
Undertake basic electrical and plumbing duties.
**Health and Safety**:
Conduct regular water temperature and legionella checks, maintaining accurate records and addressing issues promptly.
Implement and adhere to infection control measures and standards.
Conduct monthly checks of fire extinguishers, emergency lighting, and other fire safety equipment, maintaining detailed logs.
**Fire Safety**:
Ensure compliance with fire safety guidelines and regulations.
Test and maintain fire prevention and detection devices.
**Record Keeping**:
Maintain a detailed maintenance log of all tasks performed, noting completion dates and any issues encountered.
Record and address any remedial work required.
**Grounds Maintenance**:
Maintain the Home's grounds to an acceptable standard to promote a pleasant and safe environment.
**Ventilation and Lighting**:
Ensure all ventilation units and lights are kept clean and in good working order.
Replace defective light bulbs and diffusers.
**Waste Management**:
Monitor systems for waste disposal and collection, ensuring bins and stores are maintained to a safe level with acceptable standards of cleanliness.
**Supplier Management**:
Assist with deliveries to the Home, monitoring delivered goods and ensuring a safe environment is maintained.
**Chemical Handling**:
Ensure that chemicals and equipment are used and stored correctly, adhering to all safety procedures.
**Communication and Reporting**:
Report any infectious nature or accidents to the Home Manager immediately.
Inform the Home Manager of any visits by contractors.
Provide details of any unrectified faults to the Manager/Person in charge as soon as possible.
**Emergency Response**:
Be available for advice and action in emergencies that may arise **out of hours**(unless circumstances make this impossible).
Resident Support:
Encourage and facilitate Service User participation in leisure pursuits and maintain interests.
Ensure personal equipment of service user’s is kept clean and in good condition.
**Other Duties**:
Undertake driving duties as required.
Ensure the security of the Home is maintained at all times.
Attend meetings as required by the Home Manager.
Ensure the furniture and equipment used within the home is clean and used safely, reporting any faulty equipment or appliances promptly.
Immediately report complaints, concerns, or safeguarding issues to the Home Manager.
Undertake cleaning duties as required.
Assist in the cleaning and maintenance of communal areas of the home.
Replenishing stocks of disposable items and exercise effective measures to reduce cost control at all times.
**Qualifications and Skills**:
Proven experience in general maintenance and repair work.
Basic plumbing and electrical skills.
Knowledge of health and safety regulations, including COSHH and fire safety procedures.
Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Competent in First Aid (or willingness to train).
RQF Diploma/HNC/City and Guilds in Maintenance or Building Services (Desirable)
Previous experience of working in a similar environment (Desirable)
Previous experience of working in a maintenance role (Desirable)
Previous employment in the building trade (Desirable)
Experience of working with Peoples who have additional support needs (Desirable)
