**The Centre for Targeted Protein Degradation (CeTPD) **is an exciting new translational research centre at the University of Dundee, set to consolidate and bolster the University’s world-leading position in a field that is revolutionising drug discovery. Directed by Professor Alessio Ciulli, one of the pioneers in the Targeted Protein degradation (TPD) and PROTAC fields, the CeTPD will be a fast growing, dynamic research centre making major research contributions to the TPD field at the same time as accelerating Pharmaceutical industry partner drug pipelines with new ground breaking therapeutics.

CeTPD is part of the School of Life Sciences School (SLS) which is the highest-rated for Biological Sciences in the UK by the main standard of University research performance (REF 2014, REF2021). CeTPD will add to and complement other flagship units within SLS such as the Drug Discovery Unit and the MRC Protein Phosphorylation Unit in ensuring that our excellent research transforms lives, locally and globally.

We are recruiting for an exceptional individual to join us as a
**Centre for Targeted Protein Degradation (CeTPD) Business Development Manager** within our
- Team in Research and Innovation Services._

The role will also involve line management responsibility for a Business Partnerships Manager (once recruited) with the potential for team growth as the Centre expands and flourishes.

Your priorities will include:
Principal Responsibilities
- Lead the development and drive the implementation of the Business Development strategy for CeTPD in line with the required outputs and targets of the CeTPD 5 year Business Plan - this will cover managing existing and setting up new collaborative partnerships, licensing, and exploring company formation opportunities
- Extensively develop, manage and nurture networks and relationships across the Pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries to identify and prioritise new collaboration and partnership opportunities
- Develop, manage and nurture networks across the life sciences investment sector to stimulate and develop company formation opportunities.
- Considerable conference and biopartnering event attendance to stimulate new partnerships and to keep abreast of the fast-moving developments in the TPD field. Represent CeTPD nationally and internationally at conferences and events, and to internal and external audiences, collaborators and funding bodies.
- Lead on structure and negotiation of new collaborative pharma and biotech partnerships terms (up to heads of terms stage) with external parties and work in close collaboration with RIS Contracts colleagues to complete deals - at all times in line with University precedents and CeTPD Business Plan.
- Create new, innovative, commercialisation and partnership initiatives and models - we want CeTPD to be a model for translation as well as world-leading science.
- Lead the development of the CeTPD marketing and PR strategy and implement it with support from other School of Life Sciences and External Relations marketing and PR staff.
- Promote and develop (along with Director) a culture of translation, enterprise and commercialisation of research across CeTPD PIs and other research staff.
- Scouting of new technologies and opportunities across the CeTPD research base.
- Work closely with other Business Development staff across the School of Life Sciences and within RIS to stimulate collaboration within and outwith SLS.
- Contribute to other RIS commercialisation activities as required by Head of IP & Commercialisation
- Sit on the School of Life Sciences commercialisation committee and contribute to School commercialisation strategy
- Act as a delegate for CeTPD Director on CeTPD business where required
- Line management of the CeTPD Business Partnerships Manager (Grade 8) and other Professional Services staff as required by Head of IP&C

Who we’re looking for:
Essential Criteria:

- Professionally qualified with a science background to degree/advanced degree level
- A strong, demonstrable track-record in business development and commercialisation with experience gained in either the Pharma/biotech sector or Technology Transfer sector
- Good understanding and/or direct experience of intellectual property management and exploitation of research outputs
- Good working knowledge of contracts and contractual terms
- Strong negotiator
- Existing BioPharma and/or investor networks

Desirable Criteria:

- Knowledge of drug discovery and development process
- Knowledge of HEI environment and research funding
- Partnership/Alliance management experience
- Company formation experience
