**What a Concept Artist does at Criterion**

We are looking for an experienced Concept Artist to join our team on a 12 month temporary fixed term basis, creating inspiring images, visual problem solving and translating our Art Director's vision into pictures.

Reporting to the Art Director, you will use your expertise to create images of inspiring gameplay moments, descriptive environments and engaging characters. You should be able to actively collaborate and communicate with team members to query and confirm direction and brief.

**Responsibilities**
- Help establish and convey the Art Director's vision through a wide array of concept art - from sketches to paintings, storyboards, mood boards and paint-overs to support art, design, gameplay and storytelling.
- Create characters, vehicles, props, VFX concepts, environments.
- Attend meetings within feature teams, and communicate the direction and requirements back to the concept team.
- Seek feedback on your work and give feedback to other artists in your team.
- Ensure that work is delivered to spec and on time.
- The ability to work in multiple artistic styles.
- Contribute to a collaborative, service minded and learning culture.

**Qualifications**
- A strong portfolio that shows your full range of creative and technical abilities - including stylised concept work
- Basic knowledge of industrial design principles and engineering.
- An artistic eye and broad knowledge of visual media and multiple techniques.
- A broad knowledge of composition, perspective, colour theory, real-world materials, and lighting.
- Experience working with and supporting bridging teams and crafts to reach a common goal.
- Strong knowledge of Photoshop with an emphasis on drawing, painting and image making.
- Block out ideas in 3D and 2D depending on the needs of the task.
