We are currently recruiting for 2x part time Support Practitioners to join our Touchbase Lanarkshire team offering 1x 30 hours per week & 1x 18 hours per week. We are looking for a kind, caring and helpful individual who can make a real positive difference and helping those you are supporting to access their local community resources and engage with their local community to build meaningful relationships and memories.

Every day is different for our staff and duties include helping people to come to our service through driving or escorting. Staff help prepare meals, support individuals with eating and drinking, personal care and medication.

You will support individuals to express themselves through art and music and relax in our new facilities. Individuals are supported to stay active through walking, swimming, wheelchair ice skating and our in
- house sunken trampoline.

You will be working in a vibrant environment with onsite managers and amazing support from colleagues, who all have the same aim to deliver the best quality care. This is a highly satisfying and challenging career for individuals who are enthusiastic, motivated, have a positive view of people with disabilities and even though you might not have experience within a social care setting, if you are willing to learn we can support you every step of the way.

We provide services 7 days a week, however our core working hours at present are Monday to Friday between the hours of 8am and 5.30pm, but we do support some individuals out with these times and you will work a Saturday and Sunday on a rota basis when required.

Touchbase Lanarkshire is Sense Scotland’s flagship building is based in Hamilton and staff also support individuals in their own local communities and at home in Uddingston

We offer a support service to adults who have communication support needs, physical and learning disabilities and associated health conditions. Many of the people we support require personal care and support with mobility and eating and drinking.

All have unique personalities and a positive contribution to make to their communities and we need your support to enable each individual to do this in their own way. Good communication with individuals as well as their families is essential to our work and our ethos as an organisation.

Some of the people we support do not communicate through speech and instead express themselves through their individual behaviours. This can at times be challenging for some individuals, but you will receive training in understanding challenging behaviours. Sense Scotland has developed in depth communication support training for its staff to help individuals express themselves.

- You're professional. You can deal with complex and sensitive information in a confidential manner
- You are comfortable and confident in using a computer and are IT literate
- Have a good knowledge of services Sense Scotland provide
- An understanding of Scottish Social Service Council (SSSC) and care standards within Scotland
