**BACKGROUND AND INTRODUCTION**

Age UK Wolverhampton is a charity that aims to promote the wellbeing of all older people in the City, and help to make later life a fulfilling and enjoyable experience. Age UK Wolverhampton has a vision of a world in which older people can flourish. We provide essential support to everyone over the age of 50 living within the City of Wolverhampton.

Our services include information and advice, home help, friendship groups, organised activities, telephone befrienders and a handyperson service.

**JOB SUMMARY**

We are looking for a skilled handy person who can deliver services to Age UK Clients (people over 50) in the Wolverhampton Area. We are looking for someone who has skills in:

- Painting and decorating OR
- Gardening

The role may also include general handy person services e.g:

- Changing light bulbs, fuses & plugs
- Supply and/or fit key safes
- Small carpentry jobs
- Household repairs
- Unblocking sinks and replacing toilet seats
- Moving and assembling furniture
- Small plastering jobs
- Garden clearances
- Energy Checks
- Other similar jobs and duties commensurate with the role

**PERSON SPECIFICATION**
- **ESSENTIAL**_
- Experience in painting & decorating or gardening
- Experience in delivering the jobs listed utilising a variety of skills
- Experience of delivering a service to customers
- Own transport that is able to transport basic tools, equipment and materials
- Ability to supervise your own work
- An understanding and empathy of older clients' needs
- **DESIRABLE**_
- Ability to negotiate works with clients and communicate on progress
- Written and verbal communication skills including the recording and reporting of completed jobs
- Basic IT skills to enable completion of job sheets and worksheets.
- Experience of producing quotes

**OTHER**
- Full Driving Licence
- An enhanced DBS check is a requirement of this role

**SALARY AND BENEFITS**

£8,000 (based on £20,000 Full Time Equivalent)

Pension: 8% non-contributory, defined contributions

Holiday: 25 days, plus bank holidays (pro rata)

**LOCATION**

Hybrid: Office, Home and Client Sites
