Job Purpose

To provide a high-quality security service, to patients, staff, visitors, and contractors within the Hospital premises and car parks in accordance with Security Industry Authority (SIA) guidelines and company and Trust specifications.

Undertake necessary duties to ensure the maintenance of an efficient security service. These duties will be carried out in both internal and external environments.

Undertake necessary duties to ensure the maintenance of an efficient portering service during the night as directed by your Supervisor/NHS Co-ordinator. These duties will be carried out both in patient, and non-patient environments.

To assist visitors to the Hospital site with general enquiries, in a pleasant and helpful manner

All work must be undertaken in line with health, safety, security, Company and Trust policies and procedures.

Where required, you may also need to assist with the emergency and evacuation procedures in accordance with the Trust policy.

The post holder may work in an environment where they could be exposed to sensitive circumstances.

The post holder will be exposed to some unpleasant environmental conditions.

The post holder will be exposed to incidents of violence, aggression and conflict of which full training will be provided.

Principal

**Responsibilities**:

- Carrying out internal and external patrols of site, including car parks, using Data Collection equipment and Car Park Enforcement equipment provided.
- Respond immediately to all major emergency calls, in line with the Trust policies, co-operating fully with the emergency services as necessary.
- Carry out the necessary monitoring of all security systems and equipment, including CCTV monitors, alarms and door security controls inline with the specification or as and when required and to accurately complete the necessary documentation.
- To respond to requests in line with the service operational policies as necessary for the effective handling of violent or unauthorised persons within the hospital premises.
- Provide escorts to staff upon authorised request.
- Record and report all faulty machinery, equipment or materials immediately and as per the Company/Trust policies and procedures.
- Maintain accurate records and logs in a timely and accurate manner, as required by the Company and Trust including lost property, patrol records and incident reports.
- Ensure correct and appropriate use of radio and other communication equipment at all times, in compliance with local guidelines and procedures.
- Where applicable, handling cash and operating cash register and assisting with till reconciliation after training and in line with Company policy.
- Where applicable, enforce the Car Parks using PCN enforcement system, in line with current legislation, and in accordance with the Trust Car Park Policy.
- Ensure that all users have the appropriate permit and/or ticket to park within the relevant car parks.
- Ensure all Car Park Patrols and Data are Downloaded and Handled as per procedure and Trust Policy following training.
- Ensure confidentiality, privacy and dignity is maintained at all times in accordance with the Data Protection Act and in line with Company and Trust policy, where appropriate.
- Conduct yourself in a professional manner whilst on Trust and Company premises.
- Ensure you understand and comply with all relevant current legislation as set out in Company and Trust policies and procedures and the related documentation, including the Employee Terms & Conditions Handbook, Employee Health, Safety and Environmental Handbook and security procedures.
- Use all mechanical and electrical equipment in a correct and safe manner, using appropriate methods of work, following training.
- Maintain a clean, neat and tidy appearance, complying with Company and Trust uniform and PPE guidelines and high standards of personal hygiene.
- Participate as required, in regular team meetings, performance reviews, job chats, return to work discussions and co-operate with accident and other investigations.
- Engage in the process to identify your own personal development and training needs and attending agreed training programmes.
- Report immediately, any faults or defects to Trust or Company equipment or premises, especially those which could be dangerous.
- Accept and undertake work allocated through the task management system using a hand held device
- Convey and move patients and medical notes, by wheelchair, trolley, bed, etc, which would include assisting clinical staff in PAT sliding of patients where applicable
- Receive and move medical gas cylinders, change medical gas cylinders and manifolds in line with training and Health and Safety guidelines
- Convey deceased patients to the Mortuary and receive BIDs directly into the Mortuary through liaison with the emergency service
- Comply with all mandatory and additional training requirements
- Any other duties as may be reasonably requested within the grade of the post.
