**Job Purpose**
We are currently hiring a team of wardens to support our private accommodation partners:

This position is a fixed term contract for 12 months and will be based at one of our City Centre or West end sites. Renumeration - All your living expenses (rent and utility bills) will be covered. You will also receive a payment of between £2000 - £2600 per annum.
This is a great opportunity for a motivated and enthusiastic individual. This role would suit an outgoing people-person who works well within a team and is keen to demonstrate and nurture their skills in leadership. This is a great opportunity to develop this brand-new role working with our private provider colleagues. You will have skills in working in a team, you will be confident and skilled in building professional working relationships. You will be the main point of contact which will connect the University of Glasgow Student and Academic services teams and our private provider colleagues. You will enjoy working in a team and be passionate about student welfare and student experience. Those who take on the role of working within the Residence Life team gain valuable Graduate skills for their future careers.

**Main Duties and Responsibilities**
1. To support students to live well, happily and harmoniously in halls.
2. To support site team in relation to welfare and behavioural issues on site.
3. To be a first point of contact with regards to welfare, behavioural and operational issues for the Student Life Manager, Head of Service.
4. To work in partnership with colleagues in private provider sites and support them to implement responses to behaviour and welfare.
5. To keep in regular contact with your line manager and ensure you are aware of when to escalate issues.
6. To keep in regular contact with and build strong communication structures between the Residential life team and the Site Management team.
7. You will be expected to deliver face to face welfare support and events activities.
8. You will be responsible for referring students into university supports and services so current knowledge or a willingness to learn about support services is vital.
9. To be up to date and familiar with the Residence Contract terms and conditions, University Policies and Disciplinary Code and to ensure appropriate discipline is maintained within the residence alerting appropriate others when needs dictate.
10. This is a new role so you will be expected to work closely with the Student Life manager in order to feedback on and operationalise processes and resources required to make this role a success.
11. To carry out such other duties as the Line Manager may allocate to them from time to time. On-call and serious or emergency situations
12. Respond appropriately to emergency or serious incidents, (such as student death, mental / physical health crisis or hospitalisation) including offering telephone support to the on duty Living Support Team and follow up support and incident review.
13. Provide short-term cover to other Res life Wardens to cover sickness and annual leave if needed.
14. You may be expected to be available out with 9-5 hours if there is an emergency.

**Knowledge/Qualifications, Skills and Experience**

**Knowledge/Qualifications**

**Essential**:

A1 Ability to demonstrate the competencies required to undertake the duties associated with this level of post having acquired the necessary knowledge and skills in a similar role OR Scottish Credit and Qualification Framework level 5 or 6 (National 5 or 6, Scottish Vocational Qualification level 2 or 3) or equivalent, and experience of personal development in a similar role.
A2 Knowledge and understanding of experiences of students living in halls of residence or young people living away from home for the first time.
A3 Knowledge of how mental health and wellbeing impacts young people.
A4 Demonstratable understanding of how to create strong and cohesive relationships.
A5 Knowledge and experience of using Office 365 software.
