**Job description**:
The work of the Local Transport directorate makes a huge difference to the daily lives of millions and contributes significantly to the Department’s strategic priorities. Our work improves transport for its users (for example, by ensuring public transport is accessible); helps to reduce the environmental impacts of transport (for example, by facilitating more public and active transport journeys and grows and levels up the economy (for example, by providing funding for local transport projects that connect people with jobs).

This vacancy is for a Board Secretariat based in Local Transport’s Strategy team. Our work spans the Local Transport directorate and the wider Roads, Places and Environment group, bringing together strategic thinking to co-ordinate activity that drives forward the Department’s local transport ambitions.

**Responsibilities**:

- Responsibilities may include are not limited to:_

Acting as secretariat for the Roads, Places and Environment Investment Committee, ensuring that:

- The Committee runs smoothly on a monthly schedule, arranging additional meetings when there is urgent business need
- Accurate minutes are taken of meetings
- The Committee’s investments decisions are summarised in quarterly reports to senior managers and governance boards
- Best practice is shared with other tier 2 investment committees across the Department
- The Committee’s effectiveness is reviewed on monthly and annual bases

**About You**

To be successful, you will need to be someone with strong written communication skills. You are someone who is capable of presenting in a clear, concise, creative way that engages and influences a variety of audience (including the production of high-quality written material for senior managers).

You are capable of working collaboratively with senior leaders in the department and building effective stakeholder relationships. You are a highly organised person and capable of managing a quality service and adapting to fluid business demands, often in the context of time pressure.

You are someone that can think strategically to deliver on complex work, often in the context of time pressure. You have the ability to coordinate multiple activities, being able to effectively prioritise tasks and work independently to meet tight deadlines.

**Additional Information**

A minimum of 40% of your working time should be spent at your principal workplace, although requirements to attend other locations for official business, or carry out detached duty in another DfT workplace, will also count towards this level of attendance.
