A primary school in Manchester that provides support for students with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) is currently seeking a Speech and Language TA to assist in the classroom.

As a Speech and Language TA, you will play a critical role in helping our students achieve their goals by providing support to the class teacher and individual students with speech, language, and communication difficulties. You will work closely with teachers, Speech and Language Therapists (SALT), and other specialists to plan and deliver inclusive lessons that are tailored to the needs of our students. You will provide one-on-one and small group assistance to students who require extra support, and help to create a safe and inclusive learning environment for all students.

**Key responsibilities include**:

- Assisting the class teacher and SALT in the planning and delivery of speech and language therapy interventions
- Supporting individual students with one-on-one and small group assistance, particularly those who have speech, language, and communication difficulties
- Collaborating with other TAs, teachers, SALT, and specialists to ensure the best possible outcomes for students
- Helping to create a safe and inclusive learning environment for all students
- Preparing materials and resources for classes and individuals, such as visual aids and communication aids
- Assisting with classroom management, including monitoring student behavior and providing positive reinforcement
- Participating in team meetings, staff development, and parent-teacher conferences
- Assisting with the administration of assessments and the recording of student progress
- Maintaining records of progress and providing regular feedback to the SALT, class teacher, and parents.
- A relevant qualification in speech and language therapy or equivalent
- Experience working as a TA in a primary school setting and experience in working with children who have speech, language, and communication difficulties
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- A positive attitude and a willingness to go above and beyond to support students
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- A good understanding of the curriculum and teaching methods for primary school
- Patience and understanding of children's needs
- Willingness to work with children with different needs, including children with SEND
