Plas Meddyg Surgery is looking for a dynamic Pharmacy Dispenser or Technician to join a busy dispensing doctors practice. Applications from community pharmacy and NHS Trust dispensaries are welcome.
Applicants should be qualified to Level 2 in Dispensing or Level 3 in Pharmacy Services, or equivalent, and have GCSE maths, English and two science or equivalent qualifications, to show that they have an in-depth understanding of pharmacy. Qualified Pharmacy Technician should also hold current GPhC Registration. **We will also consider applicants who are working towards these qualifications and can demonstrate exceptional commitment to their role and studies.**

As a Dispenser or Pharmacy Technician, your main responsibility will be to accurately, efficiently and safely provide pharmacy services under the direction of the doctors.
These services will include:
- dispensing medicines
- advising patients in line with procedures and protocol and within your remit
- preparing MDS trays
- ensuring all prescriptions are endorsed, counted and filed accurately
- ordering, receiving and storing stock
**Primary responsibilities**
- To select, label and dispense correct items in accordance with standard operating procedures to ensure safe supply to patients;
- To dispense controlled drugs in accordance with standard operating procedures to ensure legal compliance;
- To ensure at the point of collection, the safe and correct supply of dispensed items to patients;
- To identify problems in administration of medicines such as medicine interactions and other physical factors that may affect patient compliance;
- To create and update patient medication records in accordance with data protection principles to ensure patient confidentiality;
- To assist with stock control and inventory procedures to maximise availability and minimise waste;
- To demonstrate an understanding of the Drug Tariff and its relevance to stock control;
- To ensure the safe and appropriate storage of medicines;
- To assist with the preparation of monitored dosage systems to benefit patients on multiple medication regimes;
- To maintain an up-to-date knowledge and understanding of pharmacy issues for the purposes of continuing professional development;
- To support pharmacy colleagues and mentor others through the timely completion of training courses;
- To work as part of a team and actively demonstrate a willingness to support and achieve the overall business objectives.
- To liaise with healthcare professionals both internal and external to the organisation
**Person specification**
- Level 2 in Dispensing or Level 3 in Pharmacy Services;
- Methodical and accurate approach to practical tasks;
- Ability to remain calm and clear-headed in a busy environment;
- Commitment to continuing professional development and training;
- Trustworthy and understanding of confidentiality issues;
- Excellent IT skills; knowledge of dispensing software and Microsoft packages
- Strong communication and excellent customer service skills;
- Professional, tactful and friendly attitude;
- Ability to work effectively and efficiently to deadlines
- Organised and a strong ability to prioritise tasks
- Contributes to innovation and process improvement
**Salary and Hours of Work**
**Job Types**: Part-time, Permanent
Pay: £11.44-£14.36 per hour
Expected hours: 27 per week
