Corporate Head of Nursing and Quality

The Corporate Head of Nursing and Quality will drive the programme of improvement for Quality and Professional Standards within the Trust ensuring that the delivery of consistently high-quality care is consistent with the CQC fundamental standards, safeguarding principles, Trust Values and the Trust and Directorate Strategic Objectives.
The Corporate Head of Nursing and Quality will have responsibility for several teams, working in close collaboration with the Directorates and their respective Heads of Nursing to deliver on agreed objectives, targets, quality standards, within resource constraints in line with local and national guidance. They will have a key role and responsibility in ensuring that the functions of these teams work for the benefit of patients and the respective clinical teams. They will have to develop and influence leaders from all disciplines to achieve this.
The post holder will take a facilitative and empowering approach, nurturing creativity and leading others to be open to doing things differently if the desired outcomes improve the patient, carer and staff experience. They will lead on working with the corporate support teams, Heads of Nursing, general managers, service managers, matrons, governance leads to ensure that quality data in all its forms is triangulated and validated. The post holder will lead on seeking to work with others to maximise digital solutions where possible.
The Corporate Head of Nursing and Quality will lead the Directorate by working closely with the Corporate Teams to provide demonstrable support and collaboration with the clinical Directorates and their respective leadership teams. They are responsible for ensuring that the quality of the clinical services including patient safety, patient satisfaction and clinical outcomes meet the required high standards.
They will lead and manage the Matrons for Physical Healthcare and IPC, the Nurse Education Team and the Promoting Safer Services Team to deliver against their respective agendas and to ensure these are in step and commensurate with the needs of clinical services. Under the guidance of the Deputy Chief Nurse the Corporate Head of Nursing will lead on the delivery of CQUINS for areas such as smoking cessation and restrictive practice and be the lead for vaccination campaigns.
They will be a resource for the clinical Directorates when there is a need for support when complex clinical decision-making arises. They will use their skills, experience and knowledge to offer a perspective ensuring service users and carers are held central to any decision-making.
They will lead under the guidance of the Deputy Chief Nurse, on safer staffing and nurse recruitment and development. They will work closely with the clinical directorates to ensure that safer staffing requirements are adhered to.

Strategic Professional Leadership and Practice Standards.
T The Corporate Head of Nursing and Quality will lead a team of nurses and other health professionals to ensure improved quality of care, quality assurance, safeguarding and direct care delivery across the Directorate.
- The post holder will work with the Chief Nurse, Deputy Chief Nurse and others within the corporate teams and clinical directorates to ensure consistency of standards in practice, maximising learning from serious incidents, complaints, audits, research, practice experience and national guidance.
- They will contribute to the performance of the directorate senior leadership team in meeting agreed goals and objectives, ensuring that quality information is accurate and that risk management systems are robust.
- They will ensure clinical practice and care pathways are contemporary. The Corporate Head of Nursing and Quality will represent the Directorate at local, regional and national events, promoting achievements and ensuring that developments arising out of these are integrated into the Directorate strategy.
- They will ensure that CQC fundamental standards of care are seen as the basic benchmark for care across the Directorate.
