**Hours of work**:8.30am-5pm Monday - Friday although flexibility is required.

**Days per week**:5 days per week although flexibility is required within this role

**Salary**:Dependent upon level of qualification and experience, in line with HHHO’s pay scale

**Location**: HHHO Drop In Cancer Support Centre Stechford, Birmingham.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a qualified counsellor to join our dedicated counselling team as the Counselling Service Lead.

Centre, we provide a home from home environment for all people impacted by cancer. We are looking for an enthusiastic qualified counsellor with people management experience, or who is looking to take a step into counselling service management alongside their client work who can help support the cancer community with us, committed to providing one-to-one support to clients as well as helping shape and move forward the emotional support services at the charity.

**Job Purpose**:

- Reporting directly to the Founder, the Head of Counselling Services will play an integral part in supporting the Charity as a whole in the development and implementation of Help Harry Help _
- Others Emotional Support Services longer term strategic plans. _
- You will work closely with the Founder in developing the vision and strategic direction for the _
- Emotional Support Services through evidence based client feedback ensuring that we broaden activity / services in response to community needs. _
- You will be responsible driving forward the Emotional Support Services to a high standard ensuring that you are operating in compliance all governance & statutory requirements in line with GDPR and the BACP ethical framework. As Head of Counselling Services you will support clients impacted by cancer, carrying your own client caseload, conducting client assessments to ascertain the appropriate level of support required and then allocating them accordingly. You will co-ordinate and oversee the Emotional Support Team consisting of counsellors, students on placement and volunteer Listeners following assessment of clients. _
- You will also oversee the delivery of therapeutic support groups. You will be part of regular 1-_
- 1’s with the Founder to discuss all areas within the Emotional Support Services including activity, personnel, vision and governance, giving the opportunity to raise any issues / concerns. _
- As the Counselling Services Lead you will work with the Founder to formulate and regularly review the organisation's mission to support the mental wellbeing of those affected by cancer_.

The duties and responsibilities of the role will include:

- Maintaining professional standing with the BACP by working to their ethical framework and attending supervision and sufficient continuing professional development (CPD)
- Maintaining data and professional notes on an approved and specified secure system.
- Assessment of individuals to ensure appropriate support is given.
- Offering support through the use of counselling skills and other appropriate interventions to children, young people and adults that present with issues which are appropriate for this service (very complex mental health needs or severe social difficulties will need referral to appropriate agencies)
- Developing therapeutically supportive groups and activities to reach adults, young people and children impacted by cancer.
- Managing counsellors, student counsellors, and trained listeners by allocating appropriate clients, and liaising with the Founder as needed.
- Offering emotional support to centre users, stepping them up to assessment and counselling, listening or coaching as appropriate
- Raising the profile of HHHO at local schools (this aspect of role to be developed over time)
- Maintaining data to support social impact assessment.
- Reporting weekly activity of counselling and listening hours undertaken
- Ensure Trustees receive appropriate advice and information on all relevant matters and enable it to fulfil its overall governance responsibilities.
- To adopt and comply with HHHO values, policies and procedures and regulatory frameworks.

- To positively represent and demonstrate a commitment to the aims, objectives and values of Help Harry Help Others at all times.
- To oversee the Emotional Support Services to ensure we deliver a high level of service based on clients individual needs.
- To contribute to the evolvement of our counselling / listening services from evidence of clients further support needs.
- To implement and undertake relevant training where appropriate to ensure that all counselling / listening personnel develop skills and work in line with latest governance requirements.
