Plant Health Inspector

Overview:
An opportunity exists for a number of full time, temporary inspectors in the Grampian area for a period of approximately 4 weeks during July 2021 and also in subsequent years.
Scotland is renowned worldwide for its production of high quality seed potatoes. A highly skilled team of inspectors inspects all seed potato crops in Scotland during the growing season.
**Daily rate of Pay**
Please note the daily rate of pay will be £80.94.
**Responsibilities**:
- New inspectors will be working with a senior, experienced inspector travelling between farms and inspecting seed potato crops for a number of different growers.
- Inspectors must complete, and pass, a two week training course
- Results of inspections must be accurately recorded

Essential Criteria & Qualifications:
Due to COVID 19 restrictions all inspectors are likely to have to travel between inspections on their own. Therefore it is important that you possess a current driving licence and preferably your own transport as farms are usually in remote areas.
**Essential Criteria**
1. You must be able to communicate effectively with both colleagues and growers and be able to communicate information in a clear, accurate and concise manner.
2. Self-management skills, with the ability to meet set targets and work with mínimal supervision as well as take personal responsibility for your actions so that targets are met.
3. You will have good organisational skills, will be well organised and able to prioritise your work accordingly. You will demonstrate sound judgement and have confidence in your decisions and, as you will be working in a professional environment, attention to detail is imperative. You will be aware of how your actions impact on others and will seek the support of senior supervisors when needed.
4. Excellent team working skills. You will be reliable and well motivated, have good inter-personal skills and be able to work effectively as part of a team. You will be able to build and maintain good working relationships with others.
