We're working with an Engineering company who not only have a very good reputation In their field of work, but really are beginning to go places and they're going places fast They're looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team.
The key components of the role of Mechanical Engineer are to create, oversee and undertake the design of mechanical components, assemblies and overall works, principally for the Company's Treatment System products. The position includes responsibility formechanical specifications and analysis of design solutions, which must comply with all technical, commercial, legislative and time-based requirements of contracts and / or Company / user specifications. A large proportion of design activities will be relatedto the design and manufacture of glass-reinforced plastic (GRP) water treatment kiosks, storage tanks, pump cabinets and pipework systems. Designs are generally produced using Autodesk Inventor.
The role responsibilities (but not limited to):
- Undertake a thorough review of the mechanical aspects of a specification / tender / project. Design / develop technically appropriate & value-engineered solutions as required by the project / contract / requirement.
- Produce CAD models, drawing packs, design documentation, design calculations & technical reports as required by the project / requirement and in a manner which is efficient and that continually enables the Company to deliver service excellence.
- Areas of design include, but are not limited to; glass reinforced plastic (GRP) water treatment kiosks; storage tanks; pump cabinets; pipe-work systems; pipe-work systems;
- Continually employ the principles of Design for Manufacture and Assembly, & value engineering throughout design undertakings, but never deviating from or compromising designated standards / requirements.
- Arrange the procurement of materials &/or to obtain quotations for non-standard components as directed by the Project Manager or as required by the project. Produce detailed Bill of Materials.
- Research suitable solutions & estimate costs and timescales.
- Deliver assigned projects / design activities on-time & to cost (in accordance with Standards & contractual requirements).
- Liaise regularly with the customer, client, contractors, Project Manager & other members of the Design Team. In particular, issues & shortfalls should be communicated in a timely manner & in writing.
- Where applicable, to attend meetings on site, upholding the Company's Culture & Values.
- Thrives under pressure in a fast paced environment, using outstanding communication both through your designs, and verbal / written communications. You will have excellent interpersonal skills with a completer - finisher approach to design.
- Focused & self-motivated with the ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
Your qualifications/experience:
- Knowledge & use of Autodesk Inventor/Inventor Professional CAD skills.
- At least 3 years' experience in a Mechanical design environment.
- Educated to a minimum of a HNC (or equivalent) in an engineering or science discipline.
