We are Ian Macleod Distillers (IMD), a fourth generation family owned and managed whisky and spirits business operating across the UK and internationally. We are producers of multi award winning premium whisky and gin with many other whiskies and spirits as part of our portfolio. **_Crafting Spirits With Passion_**, is what we do bestnot only are we producers of exquisite brands, but we are also distributors and suppliers in B2B and B2C channels. We are a brand led, successful family business with our spirits (people and brands), at our very core. Driven by passion, enthusiasm and solid business values, we are now expanding our B2C offering and continuing to invest in each of our brand homes (visitor centres) as our brands continue to evolve and grow.

**_Our opportunity _**

To support our Spirit Supply team, we are looking to appoint a Blending Assistant into our established team at our Broxburn offices. This is a key role which will support the activities within our operations and production teams, reporting to our Malt Master.

This will be a challenging and rewarding role for someone who is able to effectively demonstrate why their skills and experience perfectly match those that we are looking for. No two days are likely to be the same in this role. There will be lots of variety in all of your day to day activities, which include but not limited to;
- Ensuring superior quality control and proactively investigating any issues
- Maintaining accurate sample records
- Conduct training of the wider nosing panel
- Drawing samples as required from casks in the warehouse
- Helping manage the sample room
- Assisting in blend design
- Dealing with customer requests
- Liaising with Sales/Production/Shipping
- Assisting in various data inputting activities including invoicing and stock input when required
- Producing reports/analysis relating to spirit usage

**ROLE SUMMARY**

To assist in maintaining the quality of the spirit produced by Ian Macleod Distillers.

**ROLE DESCRIPTION**

**Responsibilities**

**Key Day to Day Activities
Blending (50%)
- Using organoleptic skills to assist in quality control of new make, bottled whisky, bulk whisky and cask sample.
- Assist the blending team with new product design.
- Drawing samples where required from the warehouse.
- Assist managing the sample room

Administration (50%)
- Maintaining accurate records of bottled samples.
- Retain detailed information on samples sent to customers
- Providing information and quality certificates to customers
- Liaising with Sales/production/shipping/customer
- Producing various reports/analysis relating to spirit usage
- Attend meetings of the Scotch Whisky research institute when required
- Assist in training of the nosing panel
