Fitness Instructor

Join the team as a Fitness Instructor, where you will work 37.5 hours between Monday to Friday at Wellesley Hospital in Wellington and be a part of meaningful change.

You will be a part of the Occupational Therapy team, where you will facilitate all fitness-based activities within the Occupational Therapy timetable. You'll enjoy support from the OT team, which consist of Registered Occupational Therapists and TherapyAssistants.As a part of the programme, you'll explore and promote different elements of a healthy lifestyle, covering key topics each week such as the importance of exercise, food groups and lifestyle choices. You'll provide individual and group sessions within differentlocations, including a fully equipped gym and sports halls.

**Your responsibilities will include**:

- Delivering sessions on a 1:1 basis or as part of a group, as set out in the patients 12 week program
- Maintaining a safe environment for patients to work out and exercise
- Document patients physical progress
- Support the physical health team in assisting patients in reaching and maintaining a ‘healthy weight’.
- To support the planning and running of hospital health programs (Mission Fit).
- To work alongside the Occupational therapy department to support patients integrate into the community.
- To stay up to date with hospital training procedures (E-Learning)
- Plan and successfully run a 12-week program for patients

**To be successful in this role, you'll need**:

- Qualification in sport science or fitness-related area
- Some knowledge of nutrition/healthy eating
- Experience of working in a mental health setting is not essential;
- Knowledge of mental health conditions and how they can impact motivation is crucial
