Our multi-disciplined teams include: DevOps engineers, IT architects, front and back-end developers, infrastructure specialists, cyber experts, as well as project and programme managers.

The Platform Lead - Google Cloud Platform will play a pivotal role in shaping and implementing our cloud strategy, with a primary focus on Google Cloud. You will be responsible for designing, developing, and managing our cloud infrastructure to ensure scalability, security, and optimal performance. This role is critical to our digital transformation efforts and will require a deep understanding of cloud technologies, best practices, and a strong ability to lead and mentor a team of cloud engineers.

**Principal Responsibilities**:

- Cloud Strategy: Develop and execute a comprehensive cloud strategy with a specific focus on Google Cloud to meet the organization's objectives.
- Infrastructure Design: Architect and design cloud infrastructure, ensuring scalability and high availability while optimizing costs.
- Team Leadership: Lead and mentor a team of cloud engineers, providing guidance, and ensuring efficient project execution.
- Security: Implement and maintain robust security measures in the cloud environment, including data encryption, access control, and compliance.
- Performance Optimization: Continuously monitor and optimize cloud infrastructure to ensure optimal performance and cost efficiency.
- Troubleshooting: Address technical issues, resolve outages, and provide root-cause analysis.
- Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation of cloud infrastructure and best practices.

**Leadership and Strategy Responsibilities**
- As the Platform Lead - Google Cloud Platform ensure that all risks are managed and maintain the platform with HSBC Risk appetite.
- Strong commercial awareness looking for ways to drive down RTB costs through automation, less TOIL and efficient use of Infrastructure.
- Drive FinOps capabilities and best practice with the Vendor, internal customers and embed in the platform.
- Collaborate with CTO ExCo business leaders to develop short
- and long-term strategic plans.
- Support and facilitate innovative and experimental software development work to test new ideas, within bounded cost and time frames.
- Provide leadership, vision, and direction for the CTO organization.
- Work with product management leadership to design, manage, and/or execute product roadmaps.

Requirements

**Functional Knowledge**
- Proven industry experience of running a technical platform team of Support, Engineering, Architects, Service management and product managers
- Expertise in Strategy, Business Planning, Governance, Risk Management, Stakeholder Management
- Knowledge of technology and technology trends (Software Development, Agile, DevOps, SRE) and the ability to provide technology consultancy to senior business heads
- Established industry relationships with Executives at large technology vendors
- Experience in planning and managing significant expenditure in a complex organization
- The role will be responsible for developing thought leadership and best practice, including engagement with vendors / third parties

**Skills & Experience**
- Proven experience as a platform lead in a financial services organization or global enterprise level organisation
- Strong technical knowledge of relevant technologies and DevOps ways of working.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire teams to achieve their goals.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to analyze complex technical and business problems and develop effective solutions.
- Demonstrable success in understanding and delivering towards customer needs in large, global, complex organizations.
- Ability to work in an unstructured and changing environment and be comfortable with uncertainty.
