The City of Doncaster Council is a confident, ambitious organisation which puts improving the life of its residents at the centre of everything we do. You have an opportunity to be part of this in the role of Waking Nights Officer.

We are currently looking to recruit for a Waking Nights Officer to work at Acorn Lodge, which is our newly opened children’s homes for children aged from 7 to 18 with disabilities. As a Waking Nights Officer, you will work under the supervision and advice of the Registered Manager, Deputy Manager & Senior RCO with delegated responsibility for more skilled practice.

Working alongside the manager and homes team you will play an active role in providing a warm, caring, enabling environment designed to fulfil the emotional, social and physical needs of the children living in the home.

The patterns of care and support in the home are based on the principles of autonomy, choice, privacy, dignity and fulfilment in order to provide a foundation and reference point for good standards of care practice. The residential care service within the particular establishment will be provided in accord with the statements of purpose for the home policy and procedures.

As a Waking Nights Officer and as an individual, you will work in co-operation and consultation with children and their families and partner agencies and staff in providing an appropriately flexible service in response to assessment and case planning. The aim is to provide a range of social care and therapeutic approaches to work with individuals, groups and families appropriate to the needs of children in residence and within the least restrictive environment possible. Within the team working the residential care officer will undertake social care practice duties of a more skilled and difficult nature.

The home currently operates with 2 waking nights officers and the shift pattern times are 22.00 - 07.00.

This is a new full-time post, so the shift pattern is yet to be finalised.

In return for your hard work and dedication, we can offer you the chance to be part of a great team dedicated to ensuring that all people in Doncaster thrive. You will also have access to a variety of attractive employee benefits including competitive leave entitlement, a generous local government pension scheme, a wide range of well-being support and development opportunities. You will also have access to a range of staff discount and benefits schemes. More information on the benefits available to you as a City of Doncaster Council employee can be found in the attached benefits book.

Shortlisting will take place week commencing 28th October 2024 and interviews are to be confirmed.
